Shameless Video On Demand? Hi guys, Here's an interesting question for all Shameless fans out there. What are your thoughts on a possible Shameless Video On Demand service, allowing you to watch any Shameless movie directly from their site. Yay or nay? Let us know your thoughts below... |
The collector in me says 'nay'. When you have the discs, on demand is a bit pointless personally speaking. |
Nay from me, I own the overwhelming majority and as a collector the ones I don't own I'll end up buying. Shameless VOD wouldn't offer anything at all as far as I'm concerned. If Shameless decided to release new titles via VOD, I'd just buy the ones I'm interested in from other labels. |
I think people who buy Shameless releases are all collectors, so I don't think they'd be interested in that! I certainly am not anyways. |

No here, Shameless is already a collectors company. Streaming seems like a turn of the back on supporters. imho |
Will ALWAYS go for physical product. So NAW from me!:tongue1: |
I think it defeats the purpose of why I buy blu-rays and collect. When I see one of the Shameless, 88 or Arrow films on things like Netflix it makes me feel like I wasted my money on the hard copy and my time for bothering to collect. |
Nope from me also. |
Is Shameless still going to release dvd/blu's? Streaming would be of no interest to me personally, unless it would involve spectacular titles...world premiere remastered stuff etc...which I would long to have on dvd or blu then. ;) |

I agree with the majority of people unless they offer something eg There things things like alternative cuts of the film, eg directors version or odd film that isnt on general release anywhere or could put films on as a tester to see if people would like tbat film and if got thumbs up then release it, if thumbs down then dont bother. Just a thought. |
Different cuts would be good, but at the same time I would also be inclined to get annoyed by it, as I would wonder why they did not include these on the dvd/blu-rays. If I am honest I am already put off by what I am actually getting for the asking price, this is not so in all cases though, I bought Society and was really pleased with myself for getting it. I guess I feel negative at the moment because I am looking down at my Blastfighter art card......which is a sad excuse for a noted extra.... cant wait to the film though!!!! |
No interest here. I much prefer owning discs to streaming movies. |
A good question from Bruno Kyle. Are Shameless thinking about throwing in the physical product towel mate? |
Yes, that's important to know in order to answer the question. Are Shameless asking if people would like streaming along with the physical products or switching to streaming alone? |
The thing is with streaming, in my humble opinion, is that there are some that will say why would I pay for that? At times I have even seen versions of Shameless films on youtube (albeit bad versions). |
Why is it that 88 Films can release loads of blurays but not Shameless? |
Yeah, there's only 2 of them too, like Shameless  |
There's an extensive interview with Marc Morris in the latest Darkside mag. Apparently an HD transfer can cost up to 10k to produce! On top of that you have a grand fee for the GBFC (Greedy bastard film censors) and if I remember right, the extras have to be paid for to be classified as well. You also have a Blu Ray fee to pay Sony.....quite a daunting prospect for a small indie company! You'd think like a smaller business set up,there would be grants/breaks or help available, but no.:tsk: Especially from the likes of th GBFC- BIG Hollywood labels can afford a grand. They know they'll recoup that cost back within the first hour of their product hitting the shelves. The cult titles we all love on here will take a lot longer to recoup any costs. Bottom line is.There should be tax/censor rating breaks for small indie labels. How long do you reckon, for instance it took Disney to recoup their costs when the Avengers movie hit the shops on Monday morning? Be it DVD or Blu Ray,I salute the guys who bust their balls to bring us our films in the best versions we've ever seen. |
I'm not interested in only streaming something I can buy, particularly if it's released by a label where I own all their previous releases and want to keep the physical media lined together on a shelf. |
If it was something new for a small fee i probably would yes. |
When you have the discs, on demand is a bit pointless personally speaking. |
