I doubt that people are really worried about offensive anti-android content. Sounds quite spurious to me.

It's all a bit bizarre really.

You can put a drill through someone's head, gut them and dismember them but all hell breaks loose should you call them a name which might be a slur on their race, colour or sexual orientation.

Thinking back, it's similar to James Ferman being concerned about children imitating what they saw and heard in films. Children are unlikely to replicate extreme violence with power tools at school, but the chances of repeating a racial or homophobic slur are much higher.

Perhaps not a power tool but they seem more than happy to stick a blade in one another's stomachs.

However that has zero to do with film and tv and more a product of society in general. Plus i suspect the gaming industry has more influence on kids nowadays than film and tv.

Silver Streak would probably still include the scene, just as Holiday Inn DVDs have the 'Abraham' song routine with many cast members in blackface.

To be honest i'm more offended by shithole modern comedy, because generally it's a pile of old wank.

From The Daily Mole, via Melon Farmers

"The BBC has slapped ludicrous trigger warnings on episodes of Blackadder and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air because of jokes which it claims could be seen as offensive.

iPlayer viewers will see:

Blackadder, first aired in 1983, uses a slur in its second episode which the BBC decided warrants a content warning

In the episode, Rowan Atkinson's character clashes with Dougal MacAngus who has just returned from the Crusades and is awarded Blackadder's land as a result of his good service. Blackadder says:
You come in here fresh from slaughtering a couple of Chocos when their backs were turned and you think you can upset the harmony of a whole kingdom.
Another episode of the sitcom also uses a derogatory term for a Spaniard.

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air's Reunion episode, filmed last year, also contains a warning at the start of the show. It is not clear what offended the BBC in this episode."
