Default Bates Motel (2013)

Anyone here excited about A&E's new show Bates Motel?
Its a prequel to Hitchcock's masterpiece Psycho!
It starts in the US on March the 14th but no news on a UK start or channel even.
Stars Freddie Highmore as Norman Bates, which I was concerned about as before this he has only done kids movies but after the clips and trailers it actually looks like he can pull it off! He looks damn creepy in some scenes.

Also its from one of the writers of Lost so of course Im interested!

Here is the official trailer:

It looks good , but have a feeling like a lot of stuff that I liked and has been very good will ended up being canceled. So many great shows have been canceled early while others the are utter crap just go on and on.

But definitely interested in this, I would much rather it had been set in the same time as the movie, but suppose they have to appeal to a larger audience

Yeah the setting choice is a bit weird but it may work.
I not seen any of Freddie Highmore's movies but it has a lot to live up to in playing Norman Bates.

I'm curious to see how far they can stretch the material - didn't Psycho 4 with Henry Thomas do the whole backstory thing in 90-odd minutes?

I'm more interested in the Red Dragon prequel, with Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal. At least with that, the format clearly allows for multiple story avenues, with Will Graham working on different cases with Lecter's help . . .

Not seen Psycho 4.
Only first 2, need to check out 3 soon.

Well I suppose they can go in a different direction then what they did in part 4. Im mainly interested in the relationship with the mother. See what they do with that.

I remember they did a pilot for this a long time ago (with Jason Bateman I think) but it never took off, never seen it either.

Psycho 3 & 4 are enjoyable, obviously none of the sequels touch the original but I doubt anyone is gonna watch these with high hopes.

I think it looks interesting, but I would prefer that it had a couple of story arcs rather than something new happens each week - so fingers crossed.

Could be good, it'll probably me just OK though.
