Maybe it was the shock of being mentioned so much in this thread!

Wrestlemania Backlash results

SPOILER:
  • Sheamus def. Ricochet by pinfall
  • Raw Women's Championship: Rhea Ripley def. Asuka and Charlotte Flair by pinfall to retain the title
  • SmackDown Tag Team Championship: Rey & Dominik Mysterio def. Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler by pinfall to win the titles
  • Lumberjack Match: Damian Priest def. The Miz by pinfall
  • SmackDown Women's Championship: Bianca Belair def. Bayley by pinfall to retain the title
  • WWE Championship: Bobby Lashley def. Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman by pinfall to retain the title
  • Universal Championship: Roman Reigns def. Cesaro by submission to retain the title

Two things of note:
The main event of the evening is already being touted as being 'match of the year'
To promote the new film 'Army Of The Dead', starring ex-WWE wrestler Dave Bautista, the match between Damien Priest and The Miz became a 'Zombie Lumberjack Match' where the loser was eaten!

The next WWE PPV is due to be 'Hell In A Cell', which is going to be held on June 20

David Meltzer has reported that wrestler Don Kernodle has died at the age of 71, and his death may be suicide. Kernodle worked with Jim Crockett's promotions National Wrestling Alliance, he was a tag team partner to Sgt. Slaughter and had a brief stint in WWF between 1982-1984.

Apparently WWE has sacked some of their talent most from NXT, some were up and coming to join the main roster, yet no news on sacking Nia Jax due to some wrestlers being injured

Vanessa Bourne
Jessamyn Duke
Alexander Wolfe
Skyler Story
Kavita Devi
Ezra Judge
Jake Clemson

Some of the wrestlers had booking dates lined up to appear at TBA shows.

May 23rd, 1999 - 22 years ago today, the 'Over The Edge' PPV was held

On May 23, 1999, Owen Hart tragically passed away after a stunt at a pay-per-view event in Kansas City went horribly wrong. Hart was one of the most beloved wrestlers in the industry and was known for being quite the prankster and practical joker.

Portraying The Blue Blazer, a comedy superhero character who was a bit of a buffoon, Owen was booked in an Intercontinental Championship match with The Godfather. An elaborate entrance was planned as he was set to be lowered from the rafters via a harness. The plan was for him to be lowered just a few feet above the ring, at which point he would release himself, falling to the squared circle to get a few chuckles. But the stunt did not go as planned and Owen Hart fell some 80 feet, crashing into the ring below. He died a short time later due to internal bleeding from blunt force trauma. He was just 34 years old

The television camera had cut away to a promo video so the stunt was not shown on the broadcast and WWE announcer Jim Ross had to explain to the television viewers what had happened, and later announce his death

In a highly controversial move, Vince McMahon decided to continue the show

It should have been cancelled and properly investigated but Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn decided to keep going.
