The Owl Service
Children of the Stones
Raven
Misfits
Robin of Sherwood

Gothmogxx 25th January 2014 10:15 PM

Great idea for a thread! Okay, my favourites are-

1. Doctor Who
2. Little House on the Praire
3. Holliston (So far it only has two seasons, but it has the potential to rival the top two based on their quality alone IF the further seasons are as good)
4. South Park
5. Spongebob Squarepants

Is Breaking Bad as good as everyone says? Seems everyone raves about it, will have to give it a whirl.

It's great. First couple of seasons were very good but it's amazing from the third onwards. It's an incredible show.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 25th January 2014 10:45 PM

A difficult question to answer! Even more so because I don't really watch many/any new TV shows...

1. Lars Von Trier's Riget (The Kingdom)
2. Twin Peaks
3. Peep Show
4. Father Ted
5. Arrested Development

I know it's technically TV but I would have to do a separate list for anime. My five favorite western TV shows...

1.THE WIRE
2.TWIN PEAKS
3.THE TWILIGHT ZONE
4.OUTER LIMITS
5.MASTERS OF HORROR

after that it would go on with CARNIVALE, DEADWOOD, BOARDWALK EMPIRE, BUFFY, ANGEL, SUPERNATURAL, THRILLER, QUATERMASS AND THE PIT, THRILLER, DOCTOR WHO (NOT THE NEW ONES!)

Fave anime/japanese series....

1.GHOST IN THE SHELL STAND ALONE COMPLEX
2.EVENGALION.
3.STEINS GATE.
4.RANMA 1/2
5.SLAYERS.

But this list could go on and on and on as well certainly attack on titan is a contender.

This is why I dislike top 5/10 lists... I keep changing my mind.

Hawkmonger 26th January 2014 08:50 AM

Do you consider all the Slayers series (Next, Try etc) to be one big thing or are you just placing original series in your list?

If i was to make a separate list for live action/ western series and anime it would go...

Western:

1) Quatermass and the Pit
2) Doctor Who
3) Breaking Bad
4) Batman TAS
5) Boardwalk Empire

Anime:

1) Cowboy Bebop
2) Evangelion
3) Revolutionary Girl Utena
4) Death Note
5) Baccano!

This is naturaly conditional to frequent change!

I created that list off the top of my head quickly

Hawkmonger 26th January 2014 09:21 AM

I need to watch the whole series before I decide if it's a top 5 series. Its certainly very freaking good.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 26th January 2014 09:32 AM

I've seen the Kolchak film and thought it was pretty good, but have never seen any of the series. I'll have to try and check it out at some point.

Well the new slayers are not as good perhaps but the story's all interlink. The first three were and still are absolute classics of the fantasy genre in anime.

Glad to see someone else here rates millennium. I'm probably in the minority with this viewpoint but I preferred it to the x-files.

Also nice to see Hammers TV shows getting a mention. I really rate tales of mystery and suspense.

I could probably do a Top 20, but anything past that and I'd be struggling.
