Default Taggart

I can't believe there isn't a thread for this classic detective show!

Love Taggart, well the early ones anyway (when it actually had Taggart in it!). Lost something when Mark McManus died and the 00s went the route of so much modern TV and cut down the stories to 45 minutes - yawn!

But the great run from 1983-1995 remains top TV. I have them all on DVD and I watched them again for the third time recently over the course of a couple of years and it's great stuff. McManus was brilliant and I love the old stalwarts like Chief Superintendent McVitie and Dr Andrews. It's gritty, macabre and gripping stuff. So many great stories.
Proper old telly - nothing quite like it!

Lol, was this off the back of the Glasgow Police talk on "what have you bought lately"?

Mark McManus was actually from my home town of Blantyre, Scotland. He was (in some distant way) related to my Granny. But Blantyre is a wee place, an old miner's village, and probably everyone there is related to everyone else in some weird way!

From Wikipedia, he died when I was 9 and I don't remember ever meeting him.
