We may finally be getting that Dredd sequel after all. Just not in the way that many of us had imagined. We learned in May that a TV series titled Judge Dredd: Mega-City One is in the works and that the producers were hoping that they could coerce Karl Urban to reprise his role from the 2012 movie. Now, courtesy of the actor himself, we have word that he is indeed in talks to once again put on the helmet and become the law in the Judge Dredd TV series.

As reported by Comicbook.com, Karl Urban recently appeared at Star Trek Las Vegas Convention and, amidst all of the talk about Star Trek, he talked a bit about the upcoming Mega-City One TV seires and his potential inolvement. It turns out that he has already been talking with IM Global and game developer Rebellion, who are currently working on the series, and will be happy to appear in the show as long as it feels right. Here's what he had to say about it.

"I am in discussions with them about that. I told them that if they write the material and give Dredd something to do and give him a function, I will be there. I would love to."
Dredd came out in 2012 and died at the box office but had a massive second life on home video. As fans discovered the excellent action flick, they began to rally for a sequel. Karl Urban was very vocal about his desire to return for Dredd 2, but it never came to pass. However, given how many comic book properties have come to TV and streaming services in recent years, that paved the way for Judge Dredd: Mega-City One to get going which, if all goes well, will give us even more than Dredd 2 ever could have. Producer Brian Jenkins previously expressed his desire for Karl Urban to return for the series, but noted that he is a busy guy.

"We have had many conversations prior to this, about all sorts of things. He's also very busy, a full-time professional actor. So we're going to have some long and complicated conversations I would imagine, and we'll see where we go. It's too early to tell yet, but if we can use him and he's available to us, then I think that would be absolutely brilliant. There's always a possibility he will be busy, or that his schedule for other movies won't allow. Basically, we don't know at this stage."
Judge Dredd: Mega-City One is said to take place in a massive futuristic city on the east coast of the U.S. that is absolutely riddled with crime. As opposed to Dredd, the show is said to focus on an ensemble team of Judges that will have to try and keep order in the hectic, crime-filled mega-city. Given that it is a team show, that could be why Karl Urban mentioned that the writers need to "give Dredd something to do." But he sounds open to it and that is definitely a good thing for those who wanted to see Dredd 2 happen. And Karl Urban is no stranger to starring in TV series, having last appeared on the small screen in J.J. Abrams' Human.
He'd better be

September premiers on the Horror Channel

2nd - 'Drag Me To Hell'. Frightening and funny the movie follows the course of a curse laid upon a well-meaning bank clerk. Demons are on the rise, and Sam Raimi applies all of his trademark visual dynamism to this diabolic jamboree.

8th - Terror of a very different kind. In the 'Bad Taste' tradition of Peter Jackson, Kiwi director Jonathan King's zombie comedy, 'Black Sheep' is a shear delight. Sheep-phobic farmer Henry Oldfield wants to sell his share in the family farm, to the delight of his evil bother who is genetically altering the mutton to create a super-sheep. Then a toxic lamb foetus escapes infecting the flock turning them into rampaging bloodthirsty monsters and humans into were-sheep.

15th - In 'Big-Ass Spider', a 50-foot-tall alien arachnid escapes from a military lab and rampages the city of Los Angeles. When a massive military strike fails, the city's scientists and soldiers turn to an unlikely hero. Alex (Greg Grunberg), a bug exterminator, and his Mexican security guard sidekick, Jose (Lombardo Boyar), are the hapless duo who team up to kill the creature before the city is destroyed.

16th - In 'Dead Silence', Jamie Ashen (Ryan Kwanten) returns to their creepy hometown of Ravens Fair to unravel the mystery of the murder of his wife. Once there, he discovers the legend of Mary Shaw (Joan Heney), a murdered ventriloquist whose eerie presence still looms over the town. As he desperately digs for answers, Jamie encounters the curse that took his wife's life and threatens his own.

22nd - Based on the William Gibson story, 'Johnny Mnemonic' is a sci-fi chiller that warrants your full attention on the 22nd. Johnny (Keanu Reeves) is a data courier who has a secret stash of information implanted into his mind. However, the data will kill him if he cannot retrieve it within forty-eight hours. Accompanied by physically enhanced bodyguard Jane (Dina Meyer), Johnny sets out to acquire the passwords he needs to save himself. Worse yet, he is hunted by gangster Shinji (Denis Akiyama) and businessman Takahashi (Takeshi), both of whom seek the data Johnny possesses.

23rd - In 'The Strangers', Kristen (Liv Tyler) and James (Scott Speedman) retreat to a family vacation home for a relaxing weekend but their stay turns out to be anything but peaceful. A series of unexpected arrivals sparks a deadly sequence of events. First, a mysterious and dangerous woman turns up, then James accidentally kills his friend Mike (Glenn Howerton), mistaking him for an intruder. But the real danger arrives in the form of three masked torturers, leaving Kristen and James struggling for survival

29th - A UK TV premiere on the 29th, the acclaimed 'Starry Eyes'. Determined to make it in Hollywood, reluctant waitress Sarah Walker (Alex Essoe) goes on countless casting calls in hope of getting her big break. After a series of weird auditions at the mysterious Astraeus Pictures, she lands her dream part. But with this opportunity comes bizarre ramifications that will transform her both mentally and physically into something beautiful and altogether more terrifying.

30th - A firm favourite of us all at Horror, a true cult classic from John Carpenter, 'Big Trouble In Little China'. Hard-boiled truck driver Jack Burton (Kurt Russell) gets caught in a bizarre conflict in San Francisco's Chinatown when an ancient Chinese prince and Chinatown crime lord kidnaps a beautiful green-eyed woman Miao Yin (Suzee Pai). Miao is the fiancee to Jack's best friend. And Jack must help rescue the girl before the evil Lo Pan uses her to break the ancient curse that keeps him a fleshless and immortal spirit.

Electric Dreams.
A new series based on Philip K Dick's short stories. Shitty title imho, but more Dick is never a bad thing.

Not quite Evil Dead, but I rather liked Drag Me To Hell.

Yeah, it was slammed big time by the critics. But it wasn’t that bad of a watch.

Mark Gatiss said so in the last issue of Doctor Who Magazine. He didn't say how many episodes though.

I'm excited for this, I trust these 4 to keep the integrity of the original series.
