It’s now official. Patrick Stewart will be reprising his role as Jean-Luc Picard in a new CBS All Access tv Star Trek series. YES!!

He has aged better than the rest of the cast!

They could just have him reading stuff and I'd still watch it, that voice!

It's the first announcement for a new star trek show/film were the fans aren't bitching and moaning!

I’m hoping some of TNG cast will pop up in guest roles. They’d be mad not to include them in some capacity, and with the technology today, they can even de-age Brent Spiner.

People already asking if he will return in some form , they would have to use some sort of effect, make-up wouldn't work ,even by the end of TNG they were plastering on a mile thick.

But he is in next season of super girl.

This is good news.

Don't throw things at me, but i hope this won't include Data, at least not in the first series. Enough TNG stories were Data-centric. I'm sure the new writers would end up rehashing ideas.

If they are going to use aspects of the original TNG then i hope they do it like Russell T Davies did when he reintroduced Doctor Who and do things ever so gradually. Concentrate on the 'new' then explore elements from the past ie- fan favourites, in coming series and not straight away.

Basically when you've brought back all the old characters then the fan excitement won't be as great as it will hoping the likes of Worf may make an appearance.

If they’re touting them as spin-off’s of Discovery, it seems unlikely that Destiny would be based on the books mentioned in that article (of course, they could always change the characters and time period).
