May on The Horror Channel - 'Invasion season'

"Dark forces arrive on Horror Channel in May when the UK's most popular genre TV channel unleashes Invasion Season - a collection of Saturday night alien attack sci-fi movies.

4th - The Darkest Hours - Premier - Young entrepreneurs Sean (Emile Hirsch) and Ben (Max Minghella) find themselves stranded in Moscow, alongside fellow travellers Natalie (Olivia Thirlby) and Anne (Rachael Taylor), fighting to survive when an alien attack devastates the city. They must somehow fight back against a deadly invisible enemy that can find and disintegrate them at any moment.

11th - Extraterrestrial - Premiere - April (Brittany Allen) is reeling from her parents' divorce, and is dragged back to the vacation cabin she spent fond summers at as a child accompanied by a group of friends. Her trip down memory lane takes a dramatic and terrifying turn when a fireball descends from the sky and explodes in the nearby woods. The college friends soon find themselves caught in the middle of something bigger and more terrifying than they ever thought possible.

18th - Dark Skies - The Barrett family start to experience an escalating series of disturbing phenomena occurring around their suburban home, leading them to believe that they are being targeted by an unimaginable deadly force. They soon realise that they must uncover this deadly mystery, by any means necessary, before it's too late.

25th - Skyline - The residents of Los Angeles are awakened in the dead of night by an eerie light which is hypnotically drawing people outside before they suddenly vanish into thin air. As the world unravels, a band of survivors soon discover they must fight against the onslaught of a mysterious alien horde. Who or what are these extra-terrestrials and how long before mankind succumbs to their overwhelming power?"

Netflix remakes Dead Set... in Brazil

Charlie Brooker’s zombie horror-comedy Dead Set is to be resurrected.

Netflix is remaking the 2008 series – which starred Jaime Winstone, Riz Ahmed and Davina McCall – for Brazilian audiences.

Filming has begun on the new series in Rio de Janeiro after local director Cláudio Torres adapted Brooker’s five-episode scripts.

The original was set in the Big Brother house, but in the remake the zombie apocalypse hits a fictional reality show – Olimpo, The House Of The Gods – during its elimination nigh

Brooker told trade website Deadline: ‘It’s incredible to see the ways in which Torres has reimagined this series, setting it in a city as iconic as Rio and tapping into Brazilian pop culture in such a sharp way.’

And Torres said: ‘My challenge was to turn a five-part anthology miniseries into a series that can unfold into many seasons without losing the spirit, humour and social critique that Charlie conceived in the original Dead Set.’

Brooker and Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos visited the Reality Z set this week.

The series is set to be released on Netflix around the world next year.

Meanwhile, the original, which first aired on Channel 4, is available on Netflix – which also hosts Brooker’s Black Mirror anthology
