A ‘Goonies’ Shot-By-Shot Remake is Headed to TV


Richard Donner’s kiddo adventure, The Goonies is headed to TV. THR reports that Fox has ordered a pilot. I know what you are thinking, “not another remake.” Well, good news it isn’t exactly a remake or reboot. So, there is hope.

The story follows a teacher who assists some of her students in recreating a shot-by-shot remake of the Donner classic.

The official synopsis goes like this:



After failing to make it in New York and carrying a heavy secret with her, Stella Cooper returns to her distressed automotive hometown to substitute teach. She finds inspiration, hope and ultimately salvation when she agrees to help three students who are pursuing their filmmaking dreams by putting on an impossibly ambitious shot-for-shot remake of one of their favorite movies —The Goonies. Over the course of the season of the potential series, their passion will inspire a town in desperate need of hope in this love letter to the power of cinema, storytelling and dreams.

So, not exactly a remake, right? Oddly enough, I’m more into the idea of a sequel to The Goonies and more lost pirate treasure. But, this is where we are and it doesn’t sound like a terribly bad idea.

Friends to reunite for one-off special on HBO Max | BBC News

"The cast of Friends is to reunite for a one-off special, more than 15 years since the show ended.

The episode will air on the HBO Max streaming service, which launches in May. A date is yet to be announced.

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer will all appear."

That'll be a kick in the teeth for all those who happily watch it on Channel 5 or DVD and don't want to/can't take out a subscription to a streaming service.

From what I gather, it isn't a new episode, rather a reunion along the lines of the recent Inbetweeners one?
