Fox Will Move Forward With Firefly Reboot - On One Condition...

...Joss Whedon has to be on board if it's going to get made.

That means it'll be on BBC iPlayer for a month or two for those who didn't record it last time.

I'm in two minds about this. The show was fun to watch not only because of the fantastic scripts and dialogue but because of the cast. A reboot sounds like a good idea but what if the cast lacks the same chemistry...

I wonder if Joss is up for it, he was pretty disappointed with how the show was treated the first time around (by Fox...)

It's been done once and failed at at least in the eyes of the Networks.

There's so much tv nowadays but unless you're Trebor there's still only 24 hours in the day and of that time only three or four are for tv and movie watching at most.

without the cast i cant see it working, Nathan Fillion Is Malcolm Reynolds can't see anyone else in the role as he was basically playing himself

The weird thing is that it's the same TV Network that caused it to flounder that wants to reboot it!

Space operas like that don't tend to work for the networks. I don't think Enterprise was considered a huge success was it and that was quite similar to Firefly.

I may be wrong of course. I can't recall any similar sci-fi since.

No, You're right. I can't see it being a success at all. Battlestar Galactica was probably the last successful sci-fi series of this ilk, and even that only lasted for 2 short seasons and 2 long seasons. Caprica was cancelled before the end of its first season and Blood and Chrome was never even picked up.
