Get yer tissues ready guys!

U.K. Porn-Themed TV Drama ‘Adult Material’ to Debut After Delay / AVN

"A four-part TV series set inside the British porn industry is now expected to see its premiere in October. The raunchy drama, Adult Material, had originally been set to debut on Britain’s commercial Channel 4 network in March.

But the show was delayed to accommodate its placement in a 10 p.m. time slot, after earlier slots were deemed inappropriate for the show’s sexually frank content. No specific premiere date has been set, however.

Because the 10 p.m. slot conflicts with news broadcasts on other networks, which were viewed heavily during the early stages of the coronavirus crisis, producers said that they believed the show could reach a wider audience by holding the premiere until later in the year.

The series stars British actress Hayley Squires, who also appeared in the long-running series Call The Midwife (streaming via Netflix in the United States), as “Jolene Dollar,” who is “a mother of three and seasoned pro in the sex movie industry,” according to a Sun newspaper account. “Despite being in the business all her grown-up life, the character is portrayed still struggling to juggle her unusual job with maintaining a normal family.”

According to The Sun, the series “reveals that due to an abundance of free sex content now found on the internet, the creators of the films need to deliver increasingly extreme images to persuade people to pay.” Adult Material does not shy away from depicting “such graphic images,” according to The Sun report.

The series also features Joe Dempsie — best known as “Gendry Baratheon” on the HBO series Game of Thrones — as Jolene’s longtime partner, and Julian Ovenden ("Charles Blake" of Downton Abbey) as Tom Pain, a character described as an American “porn kingpin.”

Veteran actor Rupert Everett portrays adult film producer “Carroll Quinn” in the show. Everett is perhaps best-known in the United States for his role in the Julia Roberts-starring 1997 romantic comedy, My Best Friend’s Wedding.

Rounding out the lead roles is Phil Daniels, who achieved cult-favorite status for his lead role as the disaffected mod teenager Jimmy in the 1979 film adaptation of the Who album Quadrophenia — as well as his appearance in the 1994 music video “Parklife,” by the iconic ‘90s Brit-pop band Blur.

In Adult Material, Daniels takes the role of an adult film director who works regularly with Jolene."

Adult Material begins Monday 5th October at 10pm on Channel 4

Followed by

Generation Porn / Radio Times

"Documentary examining the rise of free pornography since the mid-2000s, meeting viewers, stars and producers to ask what impact the increased accessibility is having on society. Cameras follow 19-year-old Gia and her room-mate Gianna, 21, who are both newcomers to the industry and are part of a generation of people that have grown up with porn at their fingertips - a reality at odds with their parents - which has led to problems for both young women. The programme also hears from British parents and their children, who are having frank, awkward and often funny discussions about their opinions and experiences of porn."

Monday 5th October at 11pm on Channel 4

Showtime has announced that Dexter is returning next year as a 10 episode limited series. Something to look forward to.

If you mean who I think you mean....they could appear alongside Harry (or instead of him). Problem solved!

Although the show was on a downward trajectory during the last few seasons, I'm intrigued by this idea of a short, one-off season.

When Dexter was good, it was brilliant, compelling TV, so I hope it is something which is been very well planned and written in a way which will be gripping, entertaining, and emotionally satisfying.

November on The Horror Channel: Possessed Season

7th - Exorcist: The Beginning. Having abandoned his faith, Father Merrin joins an archaeological excavation in Kenya, where an ancient church has been unearthed - and beneath it, something much older waits to be awoken. As madness descends upon the villagers, he watches helplessly as the blood of innocents flows. But, the horror has only just begun and in the place where Evil was born, Merrin will finally see its true face.

14th - The Exorcist III: Channel premier. Police Lt. Kinderman (George C. Scott) notices similarities between his current murder investigation and the methods used by the "Gemini" killer (Brad Dourif) - who was executed 15 years before. He soon discovers a hospitalized mental patient (Jason Miller) claiming to be the dead serial killer, but who looks uncannily like a priest Kinderman knew who died during an exorcism. As more bodies are found, Kinderman looks for connections between the two supposedly dead men.

21 - The Heretics: UK TV premier. We meet a young girl named Gloria who some 5 years ago survived a terrifying ritual at the hands of a demonic cult where she was tied to an altar and awoke caked in blood, surrounded by corpses but seemingly unharmed. Putting the traumatic events behind her she tried to move on with her life. But what happened that night was just the beginning. There is one who has been waiting for the right time to return and complete what was started. Gloria will be taken again...

28 - Deliver Us from Evil: New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana), who is struggling with personal issues, begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramirez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorising their city.
