The thing with Star Trek, as with Doctor Who, is there is a world wide recognized brand in place that will always guarantee some sort of interest.

Something like Firefly doesn't have that luxury. Battlestar Galactica also had a fondly remembered brand with which to work.

Heads up, people

On Thursday, 30 March at 4:00pm, the Talking Pictures TV channel is showing something called "Laurel & Hardy: Home Movies". Directed by Rowland V. Lee. Rare home movie footage of Stan, Ollie and other rarities!

This is followed at 4:35pm by 'Flying Deuces' and an Oliver Hardy interview at 5:55pm, where he reminisces about his 23-year relationship with Stan Laurel and his early career before the famous partnership was formed

"Ten years after the Frank Darabont-directed film depressed us all with its shocking ending, Spike is bringing “The Mist” to the small screen with the network’s own adaptation of the Stephen King novella. The series from executive producer and writer Christian Torpe has been described as a “twisted cousin” to the source material, and the 10-episode first season premieres in June."

Official Trailer Provides First Look at Spike's "The Mist" - Bloody Disgusting!

This looks pretty good to be quite honest, I think it looks better than the movie which I did enjoy as well, but obviously as it's a series it'll be a lot more 'fleshed out'. The cast looks good, familiar faces from TV and film.

But how will they cope with 'the ending?'

It was very effective in the movie version, but if the television version uses it, it will kill any chance of a second series!

Well that ending was solely in the movie, so they don't have to copy it. In the novella they just drive off into the mist.

I was wondering about that as it's not a usual Stephen King type of ending. I've not read the book with The Mist in it yet.
