Excellent. Now I need the BBC to release series 5 on Blu-ray (it was only released on DVD last year and series 1-4 were in the HD format) to make me very happy.

A CANTERBURY TALE (1944) - Directed by Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger

"A 'Land Girl', an American GI, and a British soldier find themselves together in a small Kent town on the road to Canterbury. The town is being plagued by a mysterious "glue-man", who pours glue on the hair of girls dating soldiers after dark. The three attempt to track him down, and begin to have suspicions of the local magistrate…

The film takes its title from The Canterbury Tales of Geoffrey Chaucer, and loosely uses Chaucer's theme of ‘eccentric characters on a religious pilgrimage’ to highlight the wartime experiences of the citizens of Kent, and encourage wartime Anglo-American friendship and understanding. It is a compelling drama set amidst the backdrop of World War Two Britain. Made in black and white, this was the first of two collaborations between Powell, Pressburger and cinematographer Erwin Hillier.

The film was shot throughout the county of Kent not long after the Baedeker raids of May/June 1942 which had destroyed large areas of the city centre of Canterbury. However the Cathedral itself was not available for filming as the large stained glass windows were still boarded up and the organ had been removed to storage, causing portions of the cathedral to be recreated brilliantly by Alfred Junge in the studio.

Polish composer Allan Gray (real name Józef Żmigrod) created the soundtrack for the film which also includes a selection of tunes ranging from the folk piece ‘Turkey in the Straw,’ to classical and hymn compositions, such as Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor and Onward Christian Soldiers."

May on the Horror Channel - Supernatural Week, which runs from Saturday May 15 - Saturday May 22

15th: Paranormal Activity - This is a found footage movie that picked up the genre where The Blair Witch Project left off. Katie and Micah, a carefree couple, become haunted by an unseen presence in their house. They decide to investigate the increasingly bizarre and escalating intrusions by setting up a video camera to capture evidence of the demonic presence in their house, only to find much more than they ever imagined. The low-budget horror film, shot in a week, became a global phenomenon and ushered in a new era of low budget tech inspired 'found-footage' movies

16th: 'Christine' - High school geek Arnie Cunningham falls in love with "Christine", a bright red 1958 Plymouth Fury which has seen much better days. Setting himself the task of restoring the car to its original condition, Arnie has become consumed with passion for the sleek, rounded, chrome-laden car. His friends are horrified but it's too late - anyone seeking to come between them becomes the victim of Christine's horrifying wrath. John Carpenter's classic car-rage chiller stars Harry Dean Stanton.

17th: 'Sinister' - Desperately in need of a best seller to revive his struggling career, true crime writer Ellison (Ethan Hawke), moves his family to the scene of his most recent story; the unsolved, gruesome murder of a loving, happy suburban family. Shunned by the local community and strained by his obligations to his family, the discovery of a batch of home movies in the attic offers Ellison shocking proof to the crime he is investigating and the terrifying realisation that his investigation may be putting his family in mortal danger. Scott Derrickson's twisted supernatural gasper stars Ethan Hawke.

18th: 'Flatliners'

19th: 'The Quiet Ones' - An unorthodox college professor leads a group of students experimenting on a troubled young woman, with terrifying results

20th: 'The Devil's Candy' - Unfulfilled artist Jesse Hellman (Ethan Embry) moves his wife and fellow metal music-loving teenage daughter Zooey into a rustic Texas home with a violent past. Soon, his paintings start taking on a darker, more prophetic turn as family tensions ramp up. Then the clearly unbalanced Ray appears on his doorstep wanting to move back where his parents tragically died. And when Ray sees Zooey, nothing prepares the family for the shocking chain of events.

21st: 'Firstborn' - The birth of a couple's first child goes from joyous to jittery when they discover that their newborn daughter is surrounded by a horde of evil entities.

22nd: 'It Follows' - For 19-year-old Jay (Maika Monroe), the fall should be about school, relationships and weekends out at the lake. But after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, she finds herself plagued by strange visions and the inescapable sense that someone, or something, is following her. Faced with this burden, Jay and her teenage friends must find a way to escape the horrors that seem to be only a few steps behind

Not up and coming, more down and going!

Exclusive: Vice Media to close UK linear channel, eyes distribution & AVOD potential / Television Business International

"Vice Media is to close its UK linear network Vice and explore new distribution options – including AVOD – for its content, TBI has learned.

The youth-skewing media firm launched Vice, then known as Viceland, in the UK and Ireland on pay TV platform Sky in 2016 as part of a global roll-out of channels.

It offered series such as Gaycation and F*ck That’s Delicious, while more recent shows have included Hamilton’s Pharmacopeia and Dark Side Of The Ring. However, the channel is set to end its distribution agreement with Sky at the end of April, when the channel will go dark in the UK.

Garbage pail kids the series.

‘The Garbage Pail Kids’ Are Coming to an Animated Series on HBO Max

The gross little bastards of The Garbage Pail Kids – that a whole generation went ga-ga for are coming back. This time in an gross-out, animated form and one that is coming to stream on a very soon-to-be grossed out HBO Max.

The animated series comes from the minds of Danny McBride and David Gordon Green and will see the return of the characters that made up the Topps trading card line of The Garbage Pail Kids the popular characters. Green and McBride’s dream is to see The Garbage Pail Kids take on and bring back a Saturday Morning cartoon feel and be more family friendly and less ****ed up than the film adaptation of GPK The Movie.

Josh Bycel of Hulu’s Solar Opposites will also write along with McBride and Green. If you recall The Garbage Pail Kids started off as a parody of The Cabbage Patch Dolls in and around 1985. Both caught fire in popularity. Although, the GPK cards collecting phase came as fast as it went, while the Cabbage Patch Dolls hung around a while. Warner Media has backed the project and we will be seeing it sooner than later on HBO Max’s growing lineup of hit originals.

There has been a strange resurgence of Garbage Pail Kids recently. In fact, R.L. Stine picked up the series and recently started writing a book series about the gross scamps adventures and over the Holidays we saw an Advent Holiday number made up of GPK characters.

I’m not complaining. I loved the hell out of The Garbage Pail Kids like most kids my age and I believe that Green and McBride will be perfect for this..
