Default New Blackadder: A Cunning Plan?

Hello!

As a huge fan of Blackadder, the news of a brand new series of the show has made me panic. For me, it should be left how it is - a classic!

But what do you make of this news? Would you like to see Blackadder return?

Watched the tail end of some Channel 5 thing about sitcoms and this was number one. Are the two events connected? Curtis & Elton writing something decent again?

DREAM ON.

The BBC say there are no plans for a new series of Blackadder at all.

That last comedy Ben Elton wrote was truly dire. So dire i can't even remember what it was called.

I'd like to see them take on a new decade, i think we need to see much more of Rowan Atkinson before he becomes to old to do deliver his comedy. But as Dem said above, the BBC have said there are no plans to make the new series.

Every TV series that's come back after an extended hiatus has always been crappy so I'd have to say no, wouldn't want to tarnish the memory of the good series that are already out produced!

Totally agree with you Vipps on seeing more of Rowan! Blackadder wouldn't be the right way imo.

Mr. Bean on the other hand...

If they do return... Blackadder, Baldrick, Percy and Melchit as old gits does seem like fun, maybe set in a Blade Runner like future?

I think it should be left alone. As Justin said, these revivals almost invariably suck, it's been soooo long and how they can possibly live up to what's gone? It's already a timeless, legendary, unimpeachable classic. What can they possibly do other than tarnish that?

There had been plans for one set in the 60's however it was shelved. I'm in two minds about this, it could be good but I suspect it may fail to capture the magic.

Also I'm going to be controversial here and say Blackadder the third was the best series!
