Amazon UK has a listing for a 'The Very Best Of Laurel And Hardy' Blu-Ray, to be released on December 10th, 2018 - £20.99

"Product Description

“Well, here’s another nice mess you’ve gotten me into!” Enter Laurel & Hardy’s unique world of emblematic bowler hats and highly visual slapstick with this special compilation boxset of the very best Laurel & Hardy feature-length films. With Laurel playing the clumsy and childlike friend of the pompous bully Hardy, the misadventures of the most recognizable comedy double act, whose charm and on screen chemistry set a new standard, are perfectly captured here in high definition for the first time. Includes Block-Heads, Our Relations, Pardon Us, Sons of the Desert and Way Out West.

Includes bonus: Another Fine Mess, Busy Bodies & Towed In A Hole"

There were clips from the film on North West Tonight last week because they premiered the film at the museum in Ulverston.

It looked very good to me and the Sons of the Desert members loved it.

I agree with Stan Laurel but the rest of the list..
We have such a rich comedy heritage in film and TV and this is the best they can come up with.
I'm surprised fracking Ant and Dec were not on the list.

Was Stan Laurel actually a comedian. Or a comic actor?

There's a difference.

"During the 1920s, Stan Laurel made a series of shorts spoofing the major (usually more serious) movies of the day. 'Dr. Pyckle and Mr. Pride' (1925) is a spoof of the 1920 John Barrymore Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The first half of Pyckle/Pride is a bit slow; then it is just too funny to stop watching. The humour is gentle, playing with expectations about what an "evil fiend" would do and then violating those expectations in very silly ways. Stan Laurel as Mr. Pride is almost unrecognizable and just a stitch!"

The first transformation is around the 8:40 mark
