The Incredible Hulk - Mystery Man (Parts 1 & 2). David is involved in a car crash that causes him to Hulk-out, and then collapse and wakes up with both facial bandages and amnesia, not even remembering his own name. Brought to town by reports of another Hulk sighting, investigative reporter Jack McGee becomes convinced that this "mystery man" knows something about the creature, and arranges a private flight to get him to a specialist in recovering memories. But when the plane goes down in the wilderness, Jack and the amnesiac David find themselves fighting for survival... I haven't liked season 2 as much as season 1, but this cracking two-parter is definitely the highlight thus far. A great survival story as well as an almost unique opportunity for these two characters to actually get screen time together (is this show weird or what, it has just three regular characters, and none of them can ever really interact!). There's even a dramatically satisfying ending as, although Jack still doesn't get to find out David is alive, he does get to see the masked David transform into the Hulk, and realise at last that the Hulk is actually a person most of the time. It's a fine pay-off for a great story.

My heart sunk a bit when I heard there was another season of Detectorists as the first two, plus the Christmas special, finished perfectly. However, the first three episodes have been wonderful to watch and I'm pleased they decided to make another series.

Callan: I Never Wanted The Job. Lonely has been misusing the Section taxi to make more money on the side, and ends up becoming a witness to a gangland hit - and then pursued by said mobsters. Callan tries to intervene before the situation escalates out of control, but some people just won't be warned... One of the best of season 4, this is a great episode with many wonderful scenes including a great shootout climax where Meres actually goes out of his way to aid Callan and Lonely, and a wonderful tense scene where Callan tries to warn off the mob boss (guest star William Marlowe), which includes this delightful exchange with Marlowe's moll:
Moll: Why are you so concerned (about Lonely)? Are you queer for him or something?
Callan (smirks slowly): No... but it's a wonder more of us aren't like that with slappers like you around, isn't it love?
F*****g owned!

CRISIS ON EARTH-X

SUPERGIRL S3 EP8 (Part 1)
ARROW S6 EP 8 (Part 2)
THE FLASH S4 EP8 (Part 3)
LEGENDS OF TOMORROW S3 EP8 (Part 4)

DC series crossover event.
All the gangs are here from all the shows as they face off against the Nazi controlled Earth-X. Earth-X itself featuring doppelgangers of various Earth-1 heroes.
Enjoyable and explosive with some good comic scenes and sad moments.

I’m very pleased with the first truly faithful adaptation of The Punisher with the Netflix show, and then some.

Jon Bernthal IS Frank Castle/The Punisher - a definitive portrayal. The characterization of Micro is more enriched than in the comics, given more emotional resonance, and his and Frank's chemistry is great. It has a poignant theme of war veterans trying to find their place in the world, and depicts the deep affects that war causes on their psyches. It’s satisfyingly dark and brutal, and the action sequences are intense and exciting.

The arc of Billy Russo’s origin story is far more interesting here than in the comics, and I cannot wait to see what they do next with the character. He is a much better, far more layered character, and Ben Barnes gives his career best performance. The finale is so satisfying. It was subtlety set up all throughout the season, and my anticipation was at an all-time high. I knew what was going to happen due to comic book history, but obviously, I just didn't know how it was going to happen, and when it did, it was one helluva a pay-off.

I still think Daredevil is Marvel’s best TV show, but this is a very close second, and it’s only had one season as opposed to Daredevil’s two, so time will tell.

My Marvel Netflix rankings:

Daredevil
The Punisher
Jessica Jones
The Defenders
Luke Cage
Iron Fist
