Prison-based Films/TV Shows

It's time for another featured Topic Of The Week :woot:

We all love Prisoner: Cell Block H but what other Prison-based TV shows or movies are you a fan of?

Perhaps you like Prison Break or he classic comedy Porridge? (Personally I'm more of a Open All Hours guy). Or what about the equally classic sci-fi The Prisoner? "I am not a number! I am a free maaaan!" Cue Iron Maiden

What about films? Anyone seen the brilliant horror film, Prison with Viggo Mortensen? It's brilliant and is a true overlooked gem (highly recommened it!)

Perhaps you're a bit of an expert of those naughty Women In Prison films such as The Big Doll House or Caged Heat?

The Great Escape anyone?

Am I the only one who thinks Shawshank is a load of boring rubbish and that The Green Mile is a bizillion times better?

What's your fav/worse prison set show or movie? Share your thoughts here! :)

I enjoyed the first two series of "Oz". But I rarely have the patience to watch more than two series of anything no matter how good.

"The Prisoner" is probably the greatest TV show ever made. Just got the Blu-ray set for my birthday. Thankfully, I do not associate it with the awful Iron Maiden!

Is that the one from the '80s, where they find the guy in the cell with the steel bars going through him?

:cool:That's the one that I'm thinking of. I remember this made a great double bill with Wes Craven's Shocker.

EMANUELLE IN PRISON (aka BLADE VIOLENT/ WOMEN'S PRISON MASSACRE/ EMANUELLE ESCAPES FROM HELL) is my all time favourite prison movie. I luv it!

Of course, Bad Girls.

It's a shame that it was axed when it was - it would've been interesting to see where the long-serving characters like the Julies and Sylvia Hollamby went. On the whole, it was a very well written and acted show with some highly memorable and gripping plot lines - similar to Prisoner in many aspects.

"Oz" Mrs MTDS' favourite TV show. Oddly she won't watch any of the extreme films I own but can't get enough of the endless rape scenes and general mayhem that is "Oz". ;)

Oz is 1 of my very favourite programmes.

And I'm not sure we would have had Prison Break without it.

Much of the first season of Prison Break seems to have lifted directly from Oz.

I simultaniously love and hate Prison Break because it has great aspects to it but it's so contrived and unbelievably absurd it's unreal!

Still, Prisoner, Oz and Prison Break are my three favourite programmes.

There's countless WIP movies I want to see but just haven't been able to afford yet.

To even see 'genre movies' you have to buy them because they're never on TV.
