Baseball Fury 25th August 2011 05:01 PM

I'm off to Devon tonight to visit the 'rents, does anyone know of any decent places around Exmouth way for picking up some secondhand BD's/DVD's?

dream demon 27th August 2011 03:01 AM

Super is already down to £7 in Asda - £19.39 @ Amazon! That's one hell of a discount.

Paul 28th August 2011 11:46 AM

I picked-up Super from ASDA for that price! The DVD version was £8!

Refused 28th August 2011 05:24 PM

Good find, I was hoping Boyz and Das were to come down a bit at some point as I need them to continue the Sony Collection.

I just realised I had a '£3 off if I spend £25 voucher code' (1651-TH9N-HK3P, it might work again, not sure) so I ordered Midnight Expresstoo to make the order even cheaper. £23.55 for all 3 :D

I bought one of those today -- an absolute bargain at £7.

I'm going to buy Boyz N The Hood and the extended edition of Robin Hood -- a bit of a Hood-themed purchase!

I hope you're sitting down because HMV have couple of blu rays for £3 each ... INSTORE  - decent films too - The Long Good Friday and Withnail and I

£3 for Withnail And I? If I didn't already have it, I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake.

Paul@TheOverlook 17th September 2011 07:29 AM

The Anchor Bay discs gave gone out if print. Withnail and Friday are to be rereleased by Optimum/Studiocanal imminently.

It's a whole penny cheaper on their website too. I'm going to HMV later and was going to look for this but might as well pick it up online now incase it's not instore.

As is Fincher's Zodiac in the natty slipcase sleeve. Probably my favourite Blu Ray in my collection . . .

wayfarer 17th September 2011 10:59 AM

Thanks to those who posted about Super being £7 in asda. I picked up a copy last night:)

nekromantik 17th September 2011 03:14 PM

Amazon US currently have the pre order for Mimic DC for just over £10 inc shipping :)

PaulD 17th September 2011 03:54 PM

HMV have both Predators Trilogy BD and the Alien Anthology for £17 each instore at the minute which is the cheapest I've seen then I think. Few other decent offers (as decent as instore prices can be anyway - most things still marginally cheaper online I guess)

I was in HMV this afternoon and saw the Alien Anthology for £17.....went round the corner and they had more for £35  Bunch of f*****g chancers!

Haha! Is it not the case that when doing a sale they can only put a certain amount at the reduced price? I probably just made that up :)

Last time I went in there, they had it on sale for £20 in the A section of their BDs and £25 in another section further down the store, it's tricks like this that make me almost boycott them, robbing barstewards that they are!

I don't know, if that is the case, then they should remove the full price ones until the £17 stock is sold. Let's just say I'd get a lifetime ban from every HMV store if I found out they had some for 17 if I just paid 35.

dream demon 17th September 2011 07:51 PM

It shouldn't make any difference what price is on the sticker, they will all scan at the same price as long as they all have the same barcode (which they will). In all fairness to HMV, they aren't scamming anyone, it will be just that they will still have some of the old stock on the shelves that either no ones noticed, or just haven't had time to re-price yet.

There were more at £35 than £17. If someome there is dumb enough not to notice them, they've no busines being let out in public, let alone work in a shop!

Sam 18th September 2011 08:26 AM

Not really a bargain as such, more of a good price but you can pre-order the Cannibal Holocaust blu-ray for £12.85 from the hut in you use the promo code HAVE1 at the checkout. Only for this weekend though!

Hmmm, I pre-ordered it from Zavvi for a pound more, do I cancel my order and re-pre-order it from the Hut for the sake of a quid?

Violence is Italian Art

I made it more worthwhile by adding a pre-order for Four Flies on Grey Velvet as there's a £2 off when you spend £20 code too (HAVE2)

Baseball Fury 18th September 2011 10:29 AM

It doesn't make a difference at all, it's all to do with the barcode.

However, this isn't the case with CD's, as they have different barcode stickers for reduced items, so pay attention when buying them!

Refused 18th September 2011 10:33 AM

Somebody who works there told me they always keep one in stock at catalogue price.

Even if it doesn't make a difference, they shouldn't have the £35 ones on display. Makes them look like f***wits (pardon my french).

Baseball Fury 18th September 2011 12:29 PM

True, but if its nything like my local, they only have 4 staff on at a time in a shop the size of a football pitch, poor buggers!

pedromonkey 18th September 2011 12:50 PM

I refuse to buy anything from HMV due to their prices, i work in a video store and we sell the exact same dvd for £3.00 brand new where as they sell it for £18-£20 for bare bones. They sell them at the RRP not at their own prices.

PaulRobinson 18th September 2011 05:12 PM

Zavvi have Scream 4 on 'Mega Monday' for £8.95

Same here. Too good to pass up - and it's my first ever order with Zavvi too. I also chucked in Psycho for £5.85. Bargain!

Refused 21st September 2011 10:53 PM

Anyone who doesn't own the Alien Anthology, get your butt to HMV.com now. It's currently £13.99!

Baseball Fury 22nd September 2011 07:51 AM

Amazon too, for non-HMV fans

Gojirosan 23rd September 2011 10:12 AM

The Cine Asia BD of Tsui Hark's excellent Detective Dee And The Mystery Of The Phantom Flame is only £5.99 on Amazon.

Rude not to, at that price.

Thanks.

I haven't seen it, but it sounds good and the price is right!

Refused 25th September 2011 08:43 PM

The rather nice looking Guillermo Del Toro box-set is currently £17.99 on Zavvi.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 25th September 2011 08:57 PM

I bought it when it first came out for much more than that and it is a really nice set -- highly recommended.
