Do you know if the first film is the unrated version with the extras ported over from the DVD? I ask because someone mentioned to me that it is but I'm a bit apprehensive as the standalone UK Blu-ray is the R-Cut sans special features.

I didn't think the R-rated cut had ever had a BD release:

Rewind @ www.dvdcompare.net - Robocop (Blu-ray) (1987)

This certainly runs 103 minutes, but it seems to be extras free - not even a menu screen.

I just compared Murphy's murder with the list of cuts - this is definitely the Unrated version (the restored footage is even noticeably of lower quality).

Paul@TheOverlook 12th June 2012 03:38 PM

Ah, cool. Thanks for checking.

In terms of the '2 for £14' deal, a couple of the discs are reasonably priced at the equivalent of £7, but the only ones (and there are only two) are available for less than that (albeit at £6.95!) from other retailers.

zane 20th June 2012 12:10 PM

For those of you who don't use facebook: There will be an 1 hour deal at 3 pm (Uk time) on 2 Blu-rays at arrowfilms.co.uk.

Daemonia 20th June 2012 01:16 PM

Any idea what the deal is?

Gojirosan 20th June 2012 02:08 PM

Spirits Of The Dead and Deep Red, £7.99 each.

Delirium 20th June 2012 02:09 PM

Deep Red and Spirits of the Dead are both 7.99.

Can't see anything else though. That ain't the deal, is it?

[EDIT] Just beaten to it...

zane 20th June 2012 02:10 PM

Deep Red and Spirits Of The Dead both for 7,99. Lucky me, don't want the first one and got the last one yesterday for even a little less by zavvi :) You still can get it for 6,45 there.

dream demon 20th June 2012 09:07 PM

Yeah, nothing I need, personally. Ah well, saved me £16. :)

antmumford 27th June 2012 11:25 AM

Just noticed (from blu-ray.com) that the Forrest Gump Collectors Chocolate Box Set is only $18.99 on Amazon.com. So a tasty £16.98 delivered which ain't bad at all for such a nice large set.

I hated the film when I saw it – probably over 15 years ago – but that is still tempting!

Gojirosan 27th June 2012 02:52 PM

I hated the film too. I couldn't even bring myself to buy that to sell on!

As I haven't seen it since (I think) 1995, I'm slightly curious to see if the opinion I held in my early teens would be the same as now. However, I should probably restart my Lovefilm subscription with the three months for the price of one card they sent and rented.

That said, the collector in me just sees it as an investment!

pedromonkey 29th June 2012 10:13 PM

Zavvi have Spirits Of The Dead and Arrow's Maniac Cop BD at 6.95 each at the moment.

the blob 30th June 2012 11:10 PM

The Universal Monsters set is only £33.99 at Sainsbury! There's also a 10% off code floating around for first-time orders so I snagged it at less than £31. :D

Buy Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection on Blu Ray - Sainsburys Entertainment

Daemonia 1st July 2012 09:39 AM

Good spot, Blob. I hadn't realised it was also getting a UK release. I'll pick it up for definite at some point.

Can't find that 10% off code for the life of me, could you put it on here please?

And thanks for letting us know about this, can't wait to see them on blu.

ReturnToZero 1st July 2012 10:05 AM

I wouldn't buy a BD release until i know how it looks like unless it's released from a reliable studio, and Universal is not.

It's SETENJ12. Seems to be valid until 17th July.

A big thanks to bizarre_eye for the Blu-ray release calendar! Very very useful!

:clap::clap::clap:

I've posted this here because the calendar thread is naturally closed to responses.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 2nd July 2012 11:51 AM

No problem, mate. :)

Gojirosan 2nd July 2012 12:00 PM

I just scored the Back To The Future Trilogy for £12 in HMV, which I thought was pretty cheap.

Indeed, very useful and potentially very expensive!

Thanks bizarre_eye.

oaxaca 8th July 2012 09:48 PM

Just bought Miike's Kobayashi-remake Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai for £4.99 on play.com... a Bargain considering it only came out last month as a play.com exclusive (and I think is due for wider release this week)

PaulD 8th July 2012 10:21 PM

Lots of Arrow Video blurays for £9.95 in Zavvi's Mega Monday offer.

Delirium 8th July 2012 10:33 PM

And Barbarella for 8.95 in the Zavvi Mega Monday is really good too. Does anyone know if the UK one has a slipcase? The US one apparently has a lovely slipcase and I'd be tempted to go for that one otherwise.

Just picked up Vamp, House by the Cemetery (Limited no less) and Frankenhooker. All £8.95 each which is crazy cheap for House and Frank.

Sargento 9th July 2012 06:26 PM

Bloody hell! Didn't see House by Cemetery yesterday! Out of freakin stock now!

Worth putting in the order and having a bit of a wait I reckon. Waited three weeks for Manic Cop but the nonsense price of 6 quid made up for it.

It's the limited run version with the white slip case, poster etc. Oddly enough the dual format unlimited one was about 5 quid more expensive.

Not sure the "extras" are really worth the ltd tag .. the dual format looks much better value ... at the right price of course.

I'd rather have the interesting packaging over a DVD version of the film, especially for 5 quid less. This is the Blu Ray forum isn't it? :)

darthelvis 12th July 2012 12:00 AM

Barnes and Noble half price Criterion sale, majority of titles $19.99!

Decided to take the risk with Customs charges and ordered a few!
