Can also confirm this.

I've got quite quite a few of the Mill Creek double bills. I usually add one to an order when I buy a more expensive item to get the total just under the vat threshold. I use Blowitoutahere on eBay, quick shipping, usually a week from US.

Nemesis 2nd June 2013 08:15 PM

Just to give the heads-up, Amz US has got several Criterion BDs for $20.

Hey guys,

allyourmusic at amazon.co.uk offer Her private hell for just 5,48 £ + shipping.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Her-Private-...r+private+hell

I love the BFI Flipside releases. You can be very happy that you have a institution like the BFI that takes good care of those pictures.

You may get stung with Customs going over the £15 threshold. Or you may be lucky!

Shouldn't do as the value of the goods is under £15, the balance is shipping and handling and that's broken down on the customs invoice on the outside of the package.

I'd love to see BFI Flipside release The Vault of Horror ('73), as the uncut version that's occasionally shown on Film4 has been restored by the BFI.

That would be aswome (I still have the Vipco DVD), although it's definetly one of the more mediocre British horror movies I have seen so far.

Correct, and if you're ever ordering something from them that costs over £15, use their 'AmazonGlobal' shipping and they'll refund you a bit of the postage cost if it doesn't get caught by customs, if you didn't know.

oaxaca 12th June 2013 07:59 PM

IMPORTCDS.COM have their 10% off site-wide sale on at the min... So the cheapest site on the net is now even cheaper! :D

Oh and I dunno how or why but I see importcds have stopped putting prices on the front of their packets and now have a royalmail sticker saying postage paid on them ?! I've had quite a few double orders come through now without a customs charge too so I'm half tempted to say that there seems to be no customs fees with them now, but - please - don't hold me to that :p

BAKA 13th June 2013 09:47 AM

How do ImportCD's ship their stuff? Jiffy bag, that funny card wrap, or a plastic bag without any protection? I still need to get around to ordering Of Human Bondage and Hell's House. Although they both seem to have gone up a bit on their site :(

They have the funny card wrap, quite thin, but adequate for things like Olive blu rays... Digibooks, etc, are charged a doller or so extra shipping and classed on their site as "heavy" so may well be shipped in sturdier packaging. Maybe.

November 2011, so it's been that way for a while.

So they never used to be import friendly? I usually keep packages below £15, but if I can place an order and go over it, I will.

I'm not sure and its not something they advertise (or mention at all as far as I know) on their site unlike somewhere like dvdworldusa.com for example which make a deal over their import friendly service.

I received 8 packages from them this morning! A couple of which had 3 blu rays in (so worth at least twice the customs limit), but none had prices displayed on the package again and they all must have come through customs ok. This convinces me more than ever that they're customs friendly. Or maybe I just got lucky again... Perhaps I'll drop them an email to see if they will confirm.

I'd be grateful if you could let me know the outcome. There's a few things worth picking up, but they won't be the cheapest if I buy a single item as their shipping costs are high. Nor will they be cheapest if you add on customs fees, so it's all swings and roundabouts.

You may be right that they are omitting totals on purpose (wouldn't that force C&E to open the package to check the invoice?) but after getting seriously stung by customs recently (which was an error on the sender's part) I'm reluctant to take the chance!

Are you bums still yacking on about this!? Every time I see this thread bumped, I expect BARGAINS, dammit :tongue1: . . .

Delirium 16th June 2013 10:46 AM

I once suggested a related bargain 'chat' thread so the actual bargain thread could be 'deals only/no chat', and although Nos liked the idea, I recall you dismissed it and likened the idea to something a little too '1984'.

So in a nutshell, tough shit.

Excuuuuuuuuuuse me! I don't recall me dismissing that idea. Sounds like a good idea to me (unless it turns out I did, then I don't...) . . .

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 16th June 2013 03:08 PM

Okay, I've created a new thread for talking about bargains and following up those which are posted here so, in future, the only posts in this thread should be those announcing a new bargain.

Perhaps not an amazing bargain per se, but, BRING ME THE HEAD OF ALFREDO GARCIA is going for less than ten euros on amazon.it... Works out about £13 with shipping. This is about half the price the upcoming US Twilight Time release will be, and that one won't be released for ages! The Italian release has been reviewed on bluray.com too and seems good quality.

Amazon's 2 for £10 has some nice stuff in, worth a good sort through. Lots of Tartan blu-rays (I myself finally got around to upgrading Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Lady Vengeance) which seem to keep a higher than usual price. Certainly much higher than £5 each!

MovieMail have a great 2 for £15 offer on too. Lots of great stuff. I picked up La Ceremonie and Holy Motors, but own the likes of Berberian Sound Studio, Himizu, Tabu, Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, Le Havre, We Need To Talk About Kevin, Confessions, The Woodsman and the Rain and Weekend, and can heartily recommend, especially at £7.50 each.
