That's a good price - I've heard that the PQ on that release isn't too great, though.

oaxaca 11th March 2011 03:19 PM

Its the original. But yeh the PQ isn't so great apparently from what I've read and like Bizarre_eye says.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 11th March 2011 03:57 PM

It's very tempting, but I'll stick with the DVD for the time being. Do you know if there are any new extra features?

bdc 11th March 2011 03:59 PM

I would like to get the oop Canadian bd,pic quality is the identical I think but the cover is much better imho...

oaxaca 11th March 2011 04:02 PM

This says all the extras...I think they are a port from an earlier special edit dvd release but upscaled to 1080i. This particular review doesn't overly slate the picture, rather says the heavy grain and general softness go hand in hand with a film of this type. Another review said the clarity had improved over the dvd markedly BUT the image in general could have been restored to a greater extent with a little more care and attention.

oaxaca 12th March 2011 06:50 PM

After reading about that WINSTANLEY, having never heard of it, it seems like a really interesting film. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Here's an ebay.com bargain for anyone interested in the CLASSIC 30's hollywood technicolour spectacle that is THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD. Given 8.1/10 on IMDB and most reviews are giving the (region-free) BD 10/10 in terms of AV and supplements :D

only 6.09 ($9.54) with free p&p to the UK...Thats a good 5 cheaper than I've seen it anywhere else :D

Tesco (in store) have a number of Blus from 5.

Yesterday I got City of Life and Death and Invictus for 5 each. They are more expensive online!

I had a look at the Blus for sale on Tesco's online site, and they had most of them instore for between 5 and 10, and all were cheaper than they are online.

I have 2 Tesco Extras near me, so they both have quite large amounts of Blus. Not sure whether smaller Tescos would.

Check the online listing though and that should give you some idea of what they're selling off...

Not a bad price - but they've got this bit wrong:

One of the most notorious films on the UKs Director of Public Prosecutions so called Video Nasties list

As everyone knows, it never made the DPP list as it was never released on video in the pre cert era!

Sargento 15th March 2011 09:25 PM

A great price and Amazon had it for the same price when I looked at their "Horror Store" yesterday.

Raw Deal is also in a set with Total Recall and Red Heat that can be had for around 9 if you shop around.

VENGEANCE is a great film.

mahoney 17th March 2011 04:16 PM

Is the army of darkness blu worth getting?

Also, off topic but still. The Machete blu thats coming out, any ideas if it has any special features? I can't find out anywhere. I don't fancy paying top notch for a bare bones release.

PaulD 17th March 2011 06:43 PM

I think it just has deleted scenes and an audience reaction track which is surprising for a Rodriguez release.

tollickd 17th March 2011 07:08 PM

I am thinking of getting both evil dead

I did consider this at one time but I heard Total Recall is a less than stellar transfer so I'm holding out for a better version.

I did check out the prices for this set mind, 14.99 is about the cheapest I found. Wouldn't mind Red Heat though.

Fair enough, mate.

There were eBay sellers selling new copies of that set a lot cheaper should you change your mind.

Total Recall had a sub-par release in the US, but the UK Blu is one of the very best Blu-ray's I've seen so far. A/V quality is stunning. It's a top-notch HD transfer IMO.

Maybe worth physically checking out for myself then in that case. :)

I have the review disc but would consider paying that for the proper disc, case, sleeve and whatever else is inside.
