I've got a handful of Franco reviews on my Jess Franco Guide with a few titles worth seeing.
I recentley had the pleasure of watching the jess franco collection-vol.2 from anchor bay uk,and it was absolutely awful.
Mansion of the living dead was by far the best of a bad lot,but even that was still crap.
Some of franco's horror flicks are ok(as mentioned above) but his erotic films are just snooze inducing, imo. Needless to say the box set(originally a trade from reaps) was traded to cloud, who i believe has been struggling through it too!

Oh come on, I can't get enough of that box set! I was leering... watching it for a week non-stop when I first got my claws on it (well, apart from that crime film, I have to admit). I have seen Mansion of the Living Dead described as a masterpiece incidentally.

As much as I love dear uncle Jess, his sex films mostly bore me to tears.

Thanks, I appreciate that. It was Stephen Thrower of Eyeball and Nightmare, U.S.A. infamy who described it as a masterpiece. He actually drew some analogies with Jean-Luc Godard when assessing it which I thought was interesting.

Mansion is interesting but certainly not a masterpiece.

The surreal isolation of the hotel is very effective but the random comedy and completely absent characterisation make this quite tiresome.

Mansion of the Living Dead reviewed.

Default Bargains At Poundland! - halloween 2009

Anyone got any gems from their local poundlands annual halloween horror collection?

today i picked up

Puppet Master
Jackhammer Massacre
Cat O' Nine Tails
Live Feed (UNCUT)
Strange Things Happen at Sundown

and an Extreme Fighting Vol's 1-4 dvd

If stock varies from store to store/town to town i can pick up DVD's for people, and if anyone can do vice versa?
