Maybe more Night Gallery than Twilight Zone? Perhaps why Serling's opening narration especially says so little, and the closing not much more; it doesn't quite seem to fit into Twilight Zone for me. Still, who cares when it's such an enjoyable yarn. I wonder where it sits in the pantheon of creepy doll stories, because it seems to be the template for a lot that's come since. Savalas puts in a great performance I think. Cruel without being too arch. |
