Default Season 4, Episode 2: The Thirty-Fathom Grave

Season 4, Episode 2: The Thirty-Fathom Grave

Airdate: 10/01/1963
Writer: Rod Serling
Director: Perry Lafferty
Starring: Mike Kellin

In the early 1960's, as a U.S. Navy ship cruises near Guadalcanal in the South Pacific, its sonar detects muted hammering on metal undersea. The eerie sounds emanate from a submarine on the ocean floor, maybe there since World War II. A very nervous crew member (Mike Kellin) on the ship served aboard that sub - and he was its sole survivor

Has anyone here ever read any of the Alfred Hitchcock Paperback stories that were popular in the 70s? Well theres one I was given recently called The Secret Of Shark Reef and the blurb goes like this...

"A metal tomb...Pete stared at the decaying submarine, which swayed eerily in the current like a drowning monster. It was covered with weed, and its gun was thick with rust and barnacles. Suddenly he heard a ghostly tapping sound inside the hulk. Surely, after forty years on the sea bed, no one could still be alive...?

Hmm know where have I heard that story before? Just goes to show you how influencal and great the TZ stories are! Even a book published in Hitchcock's name 'stole' from the show!
