I haven't seen the original version of this for probably about a decade or more; I skipped it when going through season 2 recently.

On its own merits I think this remake is a genuinley nice little Christmas story that works pretty well. Heart warming without being too schmaltzy.

I especially liked the scene where the girl with the bad glasses got a nice new pair of Dierdre Barlow glasses.

I enjoyed this one, just for seeing Burt out of Soap. Has William Atherton, who played the bad guy ever played any other part? He played that role in Ghostbusters and Die Hard and countless other 80's films. I look forward to seeing the original episode.
