VIPCO released 3 editions of The Burning. One cut, (Vhs, 30+ sec) One Sp Ed less cut (dvd/vhs)19sec) and finally the full uncut version. I got all 3.
The 2 cut versions have the same cover(as Loop's posted) and the uncut , again as Loops posted.

I love The Burning, great slasher flick imho.

Its actually wrongly percieved that VIPCO passed cut titles off as uncut.
None of the VIPCO films that were released cut were never advertised by VIPCO as fully uncut.

The mix up came with ZFE 90's Cult Classic's Vhs re release and Shogun Asassan (same range) which both stated " Original cinema version and not cut by by the BBFC for home video" on the jacket info box , the cine version was already cut by the BBFC so no wrong info was actually give by VIPCO as it was the cut prints they submitted. The boxout on the reverse of the sleeve clearly stated they weren't the full uncut versions. .

Toolbox Murders (dvd) was also assumed wrongly by many to be uncut due to the blurb on the cover even though the word 'uncut' was never used on the release.

There was also doubt over the Shogun Asassan DVD release being fully uncut as it was thought to be the old Cinema release , but it was soon been proved the DVD was indeed fully uncut.

Not dated at all in my humble opinion, I think it's definitely stood the test of time.

THE BURNING is one of my fave 80's slashers.

I own umpteen versions, and for pic and sound quality, the R1 MGM disc just can't be beaten.

Cropsy and his shears make for a menacing maniac.

First seen this on the old Thorn Emi video back in the day, before it vanished.
When Vipco finally released it on a cut vhs in the late '90's,it was very disappointing to see it 'snipped' and cut by the censors.

Interesting to note that it was distributed by George Harrison's Handmade Films....

It's probably my fave 80's slasher. Close between this and the original Friday 13th. Stood the test of time well and Harvey Weinstein's finest hour.

I was so glad the MGM dvd finally came out because I heard he hated it so much and didn't want it released. Don't know if that's true or not but if so, how can he not love his first epic????

It would make for a sweet BluRay release. Cropsy's a brilliant character and The Burning is a classic . That and Hooper's Death Trap aka Eaten Alive are my 2 fav slasher's.

Whats the current Burning (Blackhorse) & Death Trap (?) DVD release's like Reap's.? Worth a tenner each .?

Not worth a fiver mate.

The Burning's not bad,but as far as I know,DEATH TRAP is identical to the Vipco release...
