Default WARNER HOME VIDEO

Ah bloody Kyle and his talk of VHS artwork...got me all nostalgic again!

Warner always were a favourite of mine with their unbelievable range of titles and variety across genres.
In the early days of VHS their artwork was piss and would always basically use an image from the film.
When video took off bigtime, their artwork and range improved no end with some of the best covers I've ever seen on both VHS and Betamax.
In the late eighties before sellthru became big, they changed the logo from the small blue and white oblong to the Warner shield type logo.
There are MANY titles from this late era which have yet to even see the light of day on dvd, never mind blu ray, especially from the Cannon backed films.
If I remember rightly,GREMLINS was one of the first batch to use the new logo, around November/December 1985.

So people, without further ado here's the first batch of Warner titles A-E.
I've omitted the crappy artwork titles (Which unfortunately include Russell's classic The Devils) and there may be duplicates in that other MASSIVE artwork thread for which I'll apologise in advance......
However;take a while to browse through them-there are some AMAZING examples of how artwork should be done, and for the older pilgrims among us,you'll say Christ I remember holding that and reading it back in my local video fleapit emporium!

I've included a few sellthru Weintraub titles simply because of their artwork.

Oh-and check out number 19 action fans.....

Yeah, I've seen it. It was many years ago, but as far as I remember it wasn't too bad.

Warner covers that spring to mind for me are, Galaxy of Terror, Mad Max 2, Wolfen, Black-Belt Jones, Hot Potato, The Squeeze, Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires and The Satanic Rites of Dracula. One of my favourite labels for the sheer variety that they had.

You've got me in the mood to revisit it myself. I'm sure my old copy is stashed away in my parent's loft.

I would say that Galaxy of Terror is probably my favourite Warner cover. Classic artwork.
