FIND OUT MORE ABOUT V/H/S. IN CINEMAS: 18.01.2012

Hello!

The other day my uncle was about to chuck a whole load of VHS away! Luckily, I managed to grab a couple - 3 Big Boxes (The Last Warrior, Breeders and The Dead Of Night) and a couple of normal VHS including Pet Sematary 2 and . Now I wasn't old enough to get into horror VHS originally - the only Videos I had/have were/are Disney or cartoon ones. So I missed out on the big VHS boom - DAMN IT! So, here's a thread for a discussion of all things Video - what do you own? Any pre-certs? Best covers? What's the appeal?

VHS or DVD?

I'll post the covers for the 3 Big Boxes previously mentioned in a little bit.

The thing I luv about these are not just the incredible artwork, but the trailers beforehand - a lot of the films shown I have NEVER heard of before and sometimes never heard of the directors or the stars. You watch one obscure VHS, you see a trailer for another awesome looking obscure VHS, and then some trailers on that, and so on and so on. This is the very way I found out about Rolling Vengeance!

So here's a thread for all things VHS.

Go! :laugh:

Ok, here's the 4 Big Boxes I own (that aren't cartoony!). I really do need to start collecting more of these babies.

Entertainment In Video's Breeders - apparently the first film made specifically for a staight to video release;

You're making me jealous now Stevoj. So much for you remembering these covers - these were the first time I had EVER seen them. I was blown away by them. :faint:

Do you still own any VHS mate, or have you booted them out to make way for dvds now?

Stephen@Cult Labs 6th August 2010 03:55 PM

I think the only tapes I still have are the mini series Shogun, a few Quantum Leap releases, a Dean Koontz mini series called Sole Survivor and a few more in a box in a cupboard like the Tekwar tv movies,When I started collecting dvds, most of my vhs collection was given away. Bad times. You see videos on youtube of people like jdog's vhs collection and wonder how you could have let them all go.

All terrible, terrible movies K!!! However, we all fell for the awesome covers back in the days too ... :pound:

Ahhhh nostalgia :coolblue:

The days of the old big box VHS! I recall going into as many 'video libraries' (remember that phrase?) and looking over their ex-rental for sale section and coming away with some great titles. And yes, if they were cheap enough, falling for the old cool cover/terrible movie again! :woot:

Sorry Sargento :laugh: I didn't think they were THAT bad. Well, maybe Dead of Night. ;)

The artwork is indeed incredible - check out this one I've just come across - easily one of the best covers EVER!
