Default Viva: Your Thoughts...

The time has finally arrived! Shameless' latest movie, Viva is out now on DVD (available in store and online at Viva [DVD]: Amazon.co.uk: Anna Biller, Jared Sanford, Bridget Brno, Chad England, Marcus DeAnda, John Klemantaski, Paolo Davanzo, Barry Morse, Cole Chipman, Robbin Ryan, Carole Balkan: Film & TV).

Have you picked up your copy yet? Here's a thread dedicated to your thoughts. What do you think of the packaging? The disc? What about the film itself?

Let us know below...

I got my copy yesterday and watched it right away. But what a nuisance this film is!! It has nothing that is worth another go (at the moment).
It lacks all things why one would watch a sexploitation film, as there are hardly tits, no pussies; no sleaze altogether. The film is so desperately busy showing a 70ies-setting that it forgets story and supspense (as one can speak of it in any Russ-Mayer-like sexploitation-movie).
I mean there are films from the 60ies/70ies, in which girls wear bras and panties (as so in many Betty Page-films), but there are still some contents or scenes thar make the films special (sexy/sleazy) in any way.
But here there is nothing. All mildly interesting scenes were already in the trailer. I hoped the film would be something like Pervert!, but it was not. To me (at the moment) it was a complete waste of money.
Where The Nurse was a gem, Viva is just a big failure

Anyone else pick this up is it a hit or miss for Shameless. I have not seen it talked about since release suppose that may answer my question.

It is a bit too long and it really helps if you have seen a fair bit of 60s and 70s sexploitation cinema to appreciate what the director is trying to do. That said some individual scenes look great. The director is presently working on a project with heavy influences from 60s and 70s witchcraft and the occult, again like "Viva!" from a feminist perspective.

I quite enjoyed it. I think that says more about me than it does the quality of the film.
