Hey everyone! Old time Cult Labs member, new time Prisoner forum fan here. I've started to watch Cell Block H and it's great! As I type this, I've just watched episode 134 - Lizzie's surprise birthday. Even ol' Vinegar Tits got in on the celebration. Luving the show and looking forward to getting stuck in to some Prisoner convos!

G'day
I'm Cat, from Australia, watched Prisoner as a kid and now watch it religiously on pay TV every night at 6pm. My 9 month old daughter is enchanted with the end credits song, it always gets a big reaction, I hope she watches it on TV when she is an adult, I have no doubt it will still be in syndication then. Long live Queen Bea! |

What's on in the UK?
Thanks for the welcome prisonerjohn Is Prisoner being run at the moment on Uk television? It always amazes me at the places that Prisoner is popular throught the world. I have read that it is extremely popular in the Netherlands and even the US. 'As an Aussie often wonder what people from other places make of a lot of the Australian jargon and colloquialisms that are used so often in Prisoner. I know that those from the UK are probably familiar with some of them cause a lot of them come from there ie sending someone to Coventry, but I know that sometimes when I watch it I wonder how people that were not raised in Oz fare with some of the sayings, some of them are pretty obscure even for here. If anyone ever has any expressions that they are unfamiliar with from Prisoner I am happy to 'translate' lol At the moment on tv in Oz we are up to the 1981 season, Vinegar Tits has just been made the Gov of Barnhurst and Fetch the Letch has just told Erica Davidson that he's quitting! Good times |

Hey prisonerjohn- Is that Mrs Mangle?
Is your avatar Vivean Gray who played Mrs Mangle in Neighbours? I didn't know she was in Prisoner? Not surprised though it is the who was who of Aussie tv it's amazing to see how young they all were back then

Absolutely right - Vivean Gray. She played Edna Pearson in episodes 463-468. To my knowledge, Prisoner is not being aired anywhere in the UK, but as the series is gradually being released on DVD here at present, we have an exciting alternative.
