Saw Skyfall. Loved it, got home to see Die Another Day was on the box. It's utter shite.

Skyfall: 8.5/10

Die Another Day: 2/10

Don May Jr said on Facebook the exact same thing I said, Skyfall is the best Bond film since Goldeneye. Die Another Day is bad, just not as bad as Tomorrow Never Dies (but that more to do with the dire villain played by Jonathon Pryce).

Quantum was horrible.

This was classic Bond, very much Connery style. Any Bond fan will come out of this feeling very good about the future of the series. My GF hated those two as well and hated Craig. Now Craig is up there with Connery for her.

This is very much a Connery-style Bond. You won't be disappointed.

10/10

Finally managed to see Skyfall last night. Wow! I was very impressed! Certainly the best Bond film since GoldenEye.

Loved the script, the drama and tension were great, excellent villain, and some fantastic scenes, especially the opening, the tube chase, and the finale!

Can't wait to see it again!

Bit of a spoiler there!

I thought Skyfall was great but the best thing about it, unsurprisingly, was Javier Bardem's villain. They shouldn't demystify Bond as much as they did in this movie eg. returning to his childhood home etc. 1973-1985 will always be the franchise's golden years for me - I don't think Live & Let Die can be bettered.

Now that Skyfall is out on dvd and people are flocking to buy it, something amuses me.

When MGM got into trouble a few years ago the first thing they dropped from the shooting schedule was the follow up to Quantum of Solace ie - the next Bond film, citing it too expensive to produce.

How Ironic that Skyfall ended up grossing well over a billion dollars worldwide and is currently the 7th biggest film ever.

Had they released it back then it would probably have saved MGM.

How much of that $1b was pure profit though? When you take into account the money Eon/Danjaq take, marketing, etc, you're talking a drop in the ocean compared to the amount of money it would take to keep a major studio like MGM afloat.
