Default Underrated Second World War films

Interesting article in the Guardian. I have only seen two of these, The Burmese Harp and The Grey Zone.

https://www.theguardian.com/film/201...harp-the-train

The Burmese Harp (1956)
Ballad of a Soldier (1959)
The Train (1964)
The Last Metro (1980)
The Night of the Shooting Stars (1982)
Bent (1997)
The Grey Zone (2001)
Caterpillar (2010)
Lore (2012)
Generation War (2013)

The Grey Zone is a weird little film. The Train .... well, Burt did make some oddities in his time (seen The Swimmer ?)
Enjoy!!

It's certainly one of the most downbeat films I remember seeing, with similar subject material to the superfluous Son of Saul.

The Devil's Brigade is certainly underrated. Anyone fancying a Dirty Dozen style film should check it out.

Likewise. I don't know why (or how) I haven't heard of it before.

Since there doesn't seem to be a Sam Peckinpah thread

I shall witter on about Cross Of Iron.
Underrated?
Surely not!!
Well it only fits the criteria as I find myself having to remind people about it whenever WWII films come up.
Apart from the cast, the claustrophobic nature of the setting and the dialogue, there's not much to recommend this NOT
Do yourself a favour and see this FILM. Movies are 10 a penny ...
