I love The Duke his films always fill me with joy watching them such a great on screen presence.

When he smacks George Kennedy in Sons of Katie Elder i almost wet myself first time i seen it. I must of worn out the video from rewinding that scene. Classic.

1. The Searchers
2. Red River
3. The Cowboys
4. She Wore A Yellow Ribbon
5. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
6. The Shootist

Enjoyed these the most and I'd deem each of them classics. As for his other movies really a mixed bag of hit and miss for me in roughly 25-30 other films of his I have seen.

No Rio Bravo or True Grit Mr Windows? I've only seen three JW films. Those two and The Searchers. I hated The Searchers.

I reckon pilgrim I could put Rio Bravo on my list although I'd get a little technical about it and only deem it a minor classic to the others as I see those as on a slightly higher level than Rio Bravo. Higher level meaning everything across the board acting, story, directing, memorable scenes, the way it was shot or shots that stick out in my mind long after seeing it etc..

As for True Grit never been a fan of it. Never really could get into it I believe I seen it twice and revisiting it doesn't interest me at all. Can't really pinpoint ONE thing just little things that amounted to a rather unenjoyable film experience.
