I never did report back. Anyway, enjoyed the rest of the movie, but it wasn't me being tired - that hum is ****ing annoying. Although as I said, usually drowned out with music. Very noticeable in certain dialogue scenes. Still the best version though. |

I'm gonna have to watch it again now just to listen out for a hum this time . . .

I was! Catchy old theme, ain't it. And because I couldn't find any mention of the hum on reviews, I started to think I was imagining it. My speakers picked it up, certainly! Found this though on cineoutsider: "The Dolby 2.0 mono soundtrack betrays a slight hum but nothing distracting. On the whole it's clean and clear, though with the expected limitations on dynamic range. " I wouldn't call it "slight", but hey, maybe I'm just sensitive to it. It's cleaner, crisper and louder than the Redemption that's for damn sure! |

Or it could be the EQ settings of your setup, and different speakers will exaggerate different frequencies.
