I was pretty surprised to see the lizard evisceration too. I think I read somewhere that the animal was actually dead before they cut it open, which is why the BBFC passed it, though I'm not too sure myself. I didn't look too closely during that scene.

The longer version of the film is absolutely revolting.

Re-the lizard evisceration - yes they would be looking for some sort of evidence of life just prior to the killing. I remember the scene but haven't got the DVD to play it back. If there was clear evidence of life then the BBFC's decision to pass it is somewhat baffling.

Is that the one that has the monkey and snake fight.Vince ? The animals are clearly being held and forced together, pretty sick IMO.
The lizard is clearly alive as its held down just before the killing on camera scene but its possible they killed it first and then shot the scene, but it looks pretty much alive to me as its getting sliced open, plus with their track record with animals in the rest of the film, you would wonder why go to the hassle of killing something twice unless it was for the benefit of the 'star names' who were in that scene.
Large Spiders mustn't be a problem with the bbfc as Holocaust has a large spider , the size of one you'd buy in a pet shop squashed which the bbfc have no problem with that, yet order a 6s cut out of Ferox because the Muskrat bumps itself against the jeep. Strange standards.

Not a problem mate, anything is an improvement on the VHS DVDr I have now

In regards to the topic of fogging, I'm glad nearly everyone who's commented has seen the benefits. It's what you think you see but don't that stays with you longer.

Yup. The monkey/snake scene was one of the two BBFC cuts to Mountain (the other being the staged snake/bird fight). They also cut the monkey/snake scene when it was 'borrowed' for Eaten Alive.

The U.S and Dutch releases feature the longer print and include a scene of bestiality (a native rogering a giant boar) which is just unbelievably sick. Whether the scene is genuine or staged is a matter of debate (I couldn't tell and didn't look too closely either) but it's certainly absolutely revolting and totally pointless.

The boar shag scene in Mountain is definatly not real, its obviously staged. The actors willy isn't hard or anything, thank god! Mountain is possibly the only cannibal film I can bear to watch most often, the animal stuff isn't long and drawn out like in Ferox.

The only Cannibal film I can watch is APOCALYPSE!

That bestiality scene in CANNIBAL GOD sounds similar to the scene in ISLAND OF DEATH...and presumably would pass the BBFC as well. It's very rare for the BBFC to cut scenes like this. I suppose they only cut it if it's genuine.

I enjoyed Cannibal Apocalypse too.

Mountain is definitely one of the better ones apart from the animal stuff. I also quite like Last Cannibal World (minus the crocodile mutilation) and Massimo Foschi's performance was quite superb. It's a shame the BBFC cut the rape scene out as it's pretty relevant to the story. I first saw Last Cannibal World (as Cannibal) on the flicks back in the 80's as a double-bill with Psychic Killer.

Holocaust and Ferox do nothing for me whatsoever.
