No more gialli/gothic horrors? |

I'd be really interested to see an uncut release of D'Amato's Blood Vengeance. Can't say it's the best film I've ever seen but I do remember it having quite an intense atmosphere, one of those films that seems to linger in the mind even after you've forgotten what happens in it (if that makes any sense) I've only ever seen the old Walton pre-cert so I don't know what was cut but I'd certainly pick this one up if I saw it on the shelves, despite its rancid theme tune! |

I'm hoping that they all won't be (although more sexploitation on UK DVD is most welcome), but the current pink font theme seems to indicate this... although maybe they are simply going to release three sexploitation, and next could be 3 gialli () or gothic horror ()... I'm not sure - Almar may know what Shameless are planning for this series... as I don't think it's even been confirmed that there will be twenty titles again (?), plus there seems to be no spine builder this time too so anything is possible! |

Do the Shameless team have a list of possible future titles?

I'm sure they do and I hope/suspect that the most recent three will be a trio of Euro sleaze titles which will be followed by another group of similarly themed titles and so on, and so... In this economic climate when the government will be looking to take money from wherever they can, I imagine Shameless will probably be playing it a little on the cautious side, not wanting to commit themselves to a whole pile of DVD releases that will prove popular but just lose them a whole load of money. I certainly wouldn't want to be planning ahead, that's for sure.

The reasoning of most companies was like that, with the few new dvd's that got released doing quite well I think... A dvd collector will keep collecting no matter what and when times are hard people crave for entertainment even more. There used to be a time when so much fun new dvd's got released each month that keeping up was very hard, but nowadays it's relatively easy. |

That's true I suppose. I don't think the target audience for Love Goddess of the Cannibals is exactly the same as for Avatar or Alice in Wonderland! Horror fans are a different breed who, if they're anything like me, won't mind buying another version of the disc they are ready have because it as different artwork or slightly different extras. Hopefully, this will see Arrow Video and Shameless through the current economic bad patch.

Also a lot of companies are no more. And last I heard Dark Sky stop releasing "old movies"!? Making that the few companies left have a better chance of success imo... |

I certainly hope so. Like it or not, these films do have a historical significance (obviously one that will vary with the title) and they do need to be released to as wide an audience as possible. Obviously, they will never be mainstream hits, but how boring would life be if everything was in the mainstream?
