Any chance of releasing Cannibal Ferox completely uncut?

Has it actually been released fully uncut in the UK?

Replay released it uncut in the UK during the pre certification days of the early 80's.

They also released a cut big box VHS for rental after the VRA but I think it got banned as well, even though it was passed by the bbfc.
It was the same as the VIPCO release but 2s longer.

I've noticed Cannibal Ferox has been released in the US by Grindhouse Releasing. In a big collectors edition completely uncut.

What was removed in those two seconds of editing? And how much has been edited from my Vipco copy?

The Vipco release is the same as the planned but unreleased UK cinema version. The actual length of the cuts is debatable though it seems to be around 6 mins. The DVD was then shorn of a further 6 secs (total edit length) by the BBFC to the shot of the tethered muskrat banging against the jeep.

As a matter of interest, Vince, where did you hear that there was a planned UK cinema release of Cannibal Ferox?

According to Shock! Horror! The cuts to the film were down to Replay submitting the video to the BBFC. This was using the BBFC's voluntary scheme. It was rated 18 by them after the removal of about 7m. It was an unofficial rating though because this was before the VRA.

The Long Riders was also submitted at the time and also carried an unoffical rating.

It's in a film mag which I shall dig out and post the exact paragraph (once I find it). According to them the cut video print would then form a cinema release. It seems strange to me as this was normally done in reverse, so whether it's 100% accurate I don't know.

Incidentally they say 6 mins was cut. Another source says 7 mins. I even read one that said 12 mins.

I wouldn't mind seeing those six seconds. It sounds hilarious.

Thanks. So it was cut for video first.

Never heard of the cinema release myself.
