Nekromantik

How about Nekromatik 1 & 2?

I've seen the 2nd film but not the first.

AndrewJones 16th October 2007 10:53 PM

It would be really interesting to see if anyone could get those movies past the BBFC! The mixture of sex and death is never gonna sit too well with the censors. Seeing if they pass it or not would be an interesting measure of how far the BBFC have come.

Thanks for the interesting views/comments expressed there, Pooch.

Pooch

Headpress certified and released it initially.

Having seen them both, the only scene that would be cut, I believe, would be the killing and skinning of the poor bunny! Sure the threesome scene is a little sick, but the dummy is so poorly constructed that the actors are clearly afraid they will break it! lol

And Necro 2 was so overly arty and anti-horror that I can see the BBFC enjoying it. It carries the same message as them: "Porn & Horror make people baaaaaad!"

evilmg 18th November 2007 05:22 PM

cuts and edits are so annoying  thanks to the BBFC all fun is gone! I wonder how Nekromantik would look like after these cuts. I'm afraid that skinning of the rabbit wouldn't b the only scene to cut.

Angel 18th November 2007 07:47 PM

It's high time the films were submitted if only to see what the cuts are. They may not be as heavy as some people think. One things for sure the films wouldn't be rejected.

Philleh 27th November 2007 01:18 PM

Nekro 2 smacks of being a wannabe art movie, it even implies that the viewer is a twisted freak for watching it! The BBFC would probably side with part 2, for the fact that it shares the same beliefs as them.

And as for them not taking to kindly to Necrophilia, check out Pedro Amaldovar's Matador; that got away with it and it's pretty graphic - more so than Nekro, as it's not a puppet with lube the actors are involved with, it a blood covered actor.

If it was a title like Aftermatch, then it would be interesting to see what the BBFC have to say. As it's as equally arty as it is horrific.

The Rabbit scene is the only guaranteed cut to part 1 and the animal slaughter footage from Nekro 2 might be left in as it implies only killers watch that kind of thing, the porn shots would probably be left in aswell (a la Piano Teacher). The um... member scene from the end of part one might be a problem, but its blatantly fake and they let Le Bete through uncut and that features a fake penis ejaculating - so who knows :)

New York Ripper was once deemed obscene and re-moved from the country; maybe this will have the same luck?

But as you rightly said Pooch, no company would risk the money involved in getting this issue resolved. It's truly to bad we can't have a rating that reflects the American 'Not Rated' option, we have copied everything else! lol

I an assure you, that both Nekro 1 and Nekro 2 would both fall foul of the BBFC not only for content issues, but also the entire subject matter! Simply put, the BBFC would be against the idea of even contemplating having films about necrophilia being openly for sale to the public, even at R18 levels, let alone as bog-standard 18-rated movies in HMV stores up and down the country.

Apart from the fact the films are grim as hell, the content would be too "explicit" and "tasteless" for the BBFC to pass uncut, but more to the point, the fact that it took the BBFC about 8 years to finally allow Lynn Stopkewicz's "Kissed" to be given a home-viewing 18 certificate, and that dealt with necrophilia too!

Ultimately, the cover artwork, the tone of the film, the lack of any kind of "negativity to stop people thinking that necrophilia might be cool, okay or acceptable", and the content of the movies too, will combine to strike any chance of the BBFC even considering this movie for UK release!

Also, I'm pretty certain that the film has been deemed "obscene" by HM Customs, and when the old London Scala Cinema did a screening, the "old Bill" didn't approve, and asked for the print to be destroyed or escorted out of the country.

Nekro 1 and 2 wouldn't have a chance with the BBFC, so anyone who wishes to see it, really should stick to importing the films - albeit at your own, personal risk!

Lastly, any distributor who wanted to submit either film to the BBFC for certification purposes, would need a good set of lawyers to prove that the films warranted consideration as "art" films, rather than "exploitation" works. Few companies would want to risk having these films being found "obscene" again, or having them rejected outright, plus any potential legal fees and costs. It wouldn't be worth the risk or the money for any UK comapny to try and get these movies passed.

Pooch

Pooch, the BBFC classified KISSED on video only a year after classifying it on film. What 8 years are you referring to?

Where does it say on the BBFC guidelines that they wouldn't pass scenes of necrophilia? I doubt such scenes are illegal under UK law. Also the BBFC wouldn't cut scenes from films today simply because they find them tastless. They used to but not anymore. Now days it's all about legality and the issue of harm.

I'd love to see this out again, even if a couple scenes had to get cut or trimmed. Seeing as how it's out of print and runs up to $70.00+ American, anything would do just as along as the cuts weren't too drastic.

Vampix 7th October 2011 03:03 AM

I personally couldn't see what all the fuss was about over Nekromantik, I didn't like the film at all.I never bothered seeking out the sequel as the original film just didn't do anything for me and going by what I've heard about it I'd enjoy it even less than the first one.

Demoncrat 7th October 2011 11:30 AM

for me, i would like to have the choice, but hey there you go, thats what the internet is for, to circumvent those arses......
personally i found the tone of the film to be the "problem", anyone expecting to be "tittilated" by buttgereit's work is in for a big shock IMO.
and Kissed is a snorefest.

still say its a sweet little film really myself though (found myself going "awwww" in places etc)
love that ending and the music's quite nice as well.....

James Morton 7th October 2011 01:05 PM

Nekromantik

I have both NEKROMANTIK films
as expected they are low budget arty horror
I've also got Buttgereit's SCHRAMM which wasn't bad

Daemonia 8th October 2011 12:37 AM

If these films ever do get submitted to the BBFC, I hope someone films them watching it - I;d love to see the expression on their faces!

These will never get past the BBFC uncut, I don't think. I mean, c'mon, the first one ends with a masturbation suicide that ends in a rather messy climax of blood and bodily fluids (was trying to find a nice way of putting it). It's obviously fake, but I really don't think the BBFC would like it. The second film is more accomplished and graphic and an uneasy tone of sex and violence.

Judging by the BBFC's distaste at Human Centipede 2, I don't think these films stand a chance at getti8ng through uncut. Then again, look at what they decided with Cannibal Holocaust, which was surprising...

just goes to show that to be a truly effective (cough, gag cant believe im saying this....) censor, yould have to a pure blood vulcan:laugh::laugh:

Rassilon 10th October 2011 06:46 PM

I saw the film Lucker a few years ago. I hear now the directors cut is just made up of different vhs sources since the orginal film was destroyed. Not that it matters. The film was juvenile rubbish. Regardless of the subject matter - this film along with so many others should have been left to decompose.

It made troll 2 look like avatar and thats saying something.

Rik 10th October 2011 07:00 PM

Never seen either of these 2 so I just did a quick search on ebay and the cheapest they are going for is £46 for a region 1 dvd of Nekromantik 2!! No chance!

Rassilon 10th October 2011 07:08 PM

46 pound. that's insane. you could make the first film for that and hire spit the dog to act in it!

I feel the same way and the sequel was ever-so-slightly more watchable imo. But ultimately, i really couldn't care less about owning both Nekromantik outings. They're either something or nothing and i know which side of the fence i sit on.:)
