Default Conquest - Fulci 1983

Thoughts? I was reading about it at the weekend and it sounded worth a look - although judging by the reactions to it online it's an either love it or loathe it film.

Worth a Shameless release? Looking at the BBFC it hasn't been submitted since it's first release and was then released with over 4ms of cuts. Are they likely to be waived? A Fulci film released for the first time on DVD - and uncut in the UK for the first time would be a seller.

I was looking for some decent source material to mock up a Shamless cover but haven't found much of use yet.

The cuts to Conquest would be waived today.

It's been issued by Blue Underground in the States. I saw this at the local fleapit in the early 80s and picked it up for nostalgia reasons, but I'm not sure how much appeal it would have generally. Its pretty shoddy stuff...

Given that there's a "Conan" redux around the corner, the interest in 80's "sword and sorcery" fantasy cheapos with added exploitation flavour might be getting a boost in the near future.
Somebody will certainly say that everybody has already bought the BU disc...but I for one haven't....and with a yellow "Shameless" sleeve I wouldn't muse over the purchase any longer buty simply grab it.
I had a slightly cut VHS of this for a short period, but I remember that it was an interesting treat to see Fulci work his magic on the fantasy genre.

I know this one takes some stick and is generally regarded as one of Fulci's weaker efforts but I'd argue that it's one of his best. Just to look at alone is stunning, visuals-wise it's one of his best, perhaps second only to City Of The Living Dead. It's also so cheesy and so much fun.

Well I like it anyway.

I've got the Blue Underground release and a cheap and cheerful (cut) 23rd Century dvd of this. I enjoyed it, thoroughly cheesy but well watchable. I think the cuts were for decapitations and possibly a rape scene involving the dog-fellas.

If you can find a copy and you like Fulci, get it.

Edit :

I love Conquest, it's one of Fulci's more fun films. I doubt if BU's transfer could be improved upon though.

Most of the nudity and shots of the bursting sores were cut too.

Yummy!

I love this film but then I am a massive Fulci fan

Angel, Vince,

How do you think House by the Cemetery would get on these days BBFC wise?
