Yes it was uncut. It had lovely print ( one of vipcos best ) but was unfortunately cropped to 2.00:1

I would love to see an upgrade.

That's Vipco's major flaw, the actual presentation of the movies. Full screen is lame if there's a widescreen version available

I think it would be better to release stuff that's never had a proper DVD release anywhere, as there's surely far more demand for it... than say something that's already had a lavish release elsewhere.

There's a ton of stuff that still needs a good release, and I am really excited about Shameless being the first to release a decent version of Footprints.

How about:

Libido
Amuck!
Giallo A Venezia
The Killer Is Still Among Us

The last two might get the BBFC twitching a bit, but the first two are classics that have been sorely neglected.

I see Short Night OF Glass Dolls mentioned up thread- love that film. It might get some interest here because I am sure it has been shown on UK tv a few times over the years. Wasnt that one in Shameless sights som time back?

Almar mentioned Martinio- good call! After the Fall of New York I would single out of that great career as something a little different to what is in the shops now that gialli are so well served by Shameless, aside from Endgame it probably represents a high point for the Italian post nuke craze.

oh and @ eiren - I added your blog to my blogroll, reciprocal links always welcome

oh and I thought I would add that in reply to its critcs I adore Anthropophagus. I think the suspense in the second half really works. In fact a guy at work was reminiscing about this film in work the other day.

I know its all a personal taste thing but considering it was a George Eastment penned rush job I think it came out okay,

Philleh,

Waves Of Lust is a great suggestion mate! I got the Raro version and for its flaws it is a captivating film. I won't go into the criticisms too much here, I felt the suspense could have been better handled but it looks good and so did the then Mrs Deodato.

Agreed, it even pre-date Dead Calm with the erotic-thriller-on-a-boat premise.

It's been nearly 20 since the erotic thriller boom, which means it'll be coming back into fashion again soon. This could be a solid option

I thought dead calm handles the suspense better and I dont think deodato made the best of the potential of the situation - that stuff with the ****ing with painting could have been played better (there was so much potential with that and I felt it was largely squandered).

Thats not to say I dislike the film. Just that aspect was not as good as it could have been- the power struggle between Eirem and Giorgio was so well handled. That side of the film was spot on.

A friend of mine informed me that this film was an extension of a theme in Polanski's Knife in the Water but I havent seen that so cant say.
