Shameless should release the other Cannibal classics

Cannibal Holocaust is a classic in the Cannibal genre, and thanks to the good folks at Shameless, we have an almost uncut edition, with great special features:woot::woot:.

But there are other classics in the Cannibal genre, such as Cannibal Ferox, Man From Deep River, Eaten Alive and Jungle Holocaust. After watching Cannibal Holocaust, I would gladly purchase any of the others if shameless re-released them.

Anyone else feel that these four films deserve treatment at the hands of shameless?

In a word....no. Why? Well, I think the other cannibal flicks would still be heavily cut, making them less than desirable to collectors. Holocaust has a message and the animals, with one exception, which was still cut, were killed swiftly and so fell under the banner of 'animal slaughter' rather than cruelty.

Ferox is another matter entirely, it's pure exploitation all the way and the animals are killed for sensationalism more than anything else. This was Lenzi's attempt to out-Holocaust Deodato's masterful work. As a consequence, some of the animal stuff is certainly cruelty and not slaughter and would therefore still be cut by the BBFC.

I think the only one that might have its cuts reduced is Jungle Holocaust/Last Cannibal World. That might get through relatively unscathed now.

How's about Man from Deep River? I believe the animal cruelty in that one was some what swift also. Making it more animal slaughter.

There's already great uncut editions of these films available from companies like AWE etc, so i just don't see the point tbh.
I'd rather see more unreleased stuff from Shameless tbh.

Not on blu-ray there isn't

Yeah some of the animal crulty in Ferox wouldn't get by uncut (I would still buy it as the gore will), but I can see hope for Deep River Savages and Jungle Holocaust getting a rating without much problems. Hopefully if any more cannibal classics are released by shameless, it will be on both Blu-ray and DVD.

Point taken and i'd only buy Shameless-sourced censored Cannibal capers if said releases were replete with a raft of exclusive extras such as the above label's edition of CH. Such an incentive would sway me but pretty much nothing else as i already own my fave flesh eatin' forays on various uncut import releases.:)

No, because they will all still be cut. This is just what I think - it's not fact but just how I think they might fare:

Most of the animal stuff in DEEP RIVER SAVAGES would possibly survive intact (one scene does remain in the old UK DVD - the goat having it's throat slit at the end) but contains scenes of animals being forced to fight.

LAST CANNIBAL WORLD - Would more or less go through (and most of the animal stuff remains in the old UK DVD) but I recall there is a scene of a bird being 'goaded into terror' and the BBFC don't like that.

MOUNTAIN OF THE CANNIBAL - Not a chance - the monkey scene will never be passed by the BBFC and for good reason, too. The killing of the lizard was passed for the old Vipco dvd.

EATEN ALIVE - Contains the monkey scene from 'MOUNTAIN' plus some of the animal fights from DRS.

CANNIBAL FEROX - I think out of the animal scenes only the muskrat/snake and snake/lizard will be cut. There may be problems with the scene in which Giovanni Lombardo Radice tortures the young native girl and plays his knife across her breasts.

In fact the only one has that has a realistic chance of going through uncut is EMANUELLE AND THE LAST CANNIBALS.

I also don't want them because they've all been done to death and tbh most aren't very good at all.

I don't think Last Cannibal World has any chance whatsoever of getting passed the BBFC today - or ever! There's no way they're going to pass the crocodile slaughter. This scene was cut for the X rating in the late 70's, it was cut again when the film was submitted for DVD 10 years ago. Unlike the turtle slaughter in Holocaust they won't be able to claim that it was a quick kill - simply because it wasn't. The crocodile was brutally beaten and skinned whilst it was very much alive. So you can forget seeing this. The other scene cut for DVD last time was the rape. This scene would otherwise have passed the BBFC aside from the fact that it was clearly endorsing the rape myth. Unless the BBFC's view on this scene change on its next submission then the scene once again will be cut.

Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals also contains clear female genital mutilation. Can't see the BBFC passing it.

The BBFC.......Releasing UNCUT cannibal films.......30 years after they were made........Bwaahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!
Just be thankful that any and all decisions made by our censors can be rectified by a couple of swift clicks on your computer!
The BBFC, an obsolete organization that once upon a time, long, long ago, had delusions of grandeur over the British public but now is just a sad anachronism slowly withering away.
Cannibal films have been banned since the early '80's but how many of you have seen the full uncut versions?
