I seem to remember a quote from back in the time TCM was banned; basically it went something along the lines of 'it's okay for educated cinephiles in London to see it, but what if a plumber in Leeds was to see it'
. Quite obviously us proles were just too stupid to 'understand' such things and needed to be protected from ourselves.
