I watched 'Conquest of the Planet of the Apes' as part of the Blu box set, now old-timers may remember that the studio re-cut the ending and cut some violence to avoid a R rating in the US. Now the studio have re-instated this original version as an option in the menu. WOW, just shows how a little tampering can wreck an ending and so the movie. This version makes it one of, if not the best sequel in the series, I won't go into details to spoil it, and the film runs unaltered for 90% of the time, but if you're an 'APES' fan(as I am) this is a real eyeopener and completely changes your opinion of the film. To me the first stands head and shoulders above the rest but 'Conquest' now moves to 2nd fave(and don't piss off Roddy McDowall
) And in case your wondering how the makeup fares in HD, no worries it holds up very well indeed(apart from 'Beneath' where they clearly use cheapo slip over masks in the outdoor speech scene
)
