I've now heard from Shameless about this and it's simply down to the licensing agreement Shameless have for the film. They were permitted to include Italian audio with English subs on the DVD but not the BD.
Incidentally, as I'm sure most of you already know,
Cannibal Holocaust was actually shot in English, making the English track the original audio, despite the film being Italian in origin.
