The other Hammer's are begging for a Powerhouse release.

There are a fair few obscurities there. The House on Marsh Road was released by Renoun on dvd whilst films such as The Snake Woman have never even had a dvd release over here.

You said Triffids was on the way years ago. I almost didn't buy the Odeon dvd in anticipation but i'm pleased i did even though it looks a bit meh at best.

Triffids apparently was restored but rumour has it the rights holder is asking for too much to license it.

When I compiled the list I was surprised at how many there were! Plenty to go at for labels such as Indicator, BFI and Network who champion Brit titles.

Some are out of English Gothic's 'borderline' section. I'm relying on Jonathan Rigby as I haven't seen a lot of those listed in that section.

Personally, I prefer to have a broad definition of horror and include as many dark thrillers as possible. Often these are the ones that are the most twisted and sleazy. I don't like to think I'm missing out :lol:

Have you seen The Snake Woman?

It's on one of those MGM Timeless Horror four pack dvd's along with The Face of Marble, I Bury the Living and The Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake.

I had no idea it was British when i bought it but was pleasantly surprised as it's a bit of a gem to me and a definite precursor to Hammer's The Reptile five years down the line. It stands out like a sore thumb against the American dross on the disc.

I've not seen it. Never used to be on TV 'in the day' and I gave up buying cheap DVD sets about 15 years ago because so many had poor picture quality and to be honest I had other priorities around that time.

They were cheap but they weren't poor quality. Just MGM putting out little known films in one set.

I have had a UK Bluray of Peeping Tom by Studio Canal for ages?

Yes, I did know this, so its inclusion on the list wasn't strictly correct. But the present release is considered to be a poor job with DNR and orange skin tones. The new upcoming restoration promises to be definitive.
