The Plague Of The Zombies (1966) From IMDB: Young workers are dying because of a mysterious epidemic in a little village in Cornwall. Doctor Thompson is helpless and asks professor James Forbes for help. The professor and his daughter Sylvia travel to Thomson. Terrible things happen soon, beyond imagination or reality. Dead people are seen near an old, unused mine. Late people seem to live suddenly. Professor Forbes presumes that black magic is involved and someone has extraordinary power. He doesn't know how close he is: the dead become alive because of a magic voodoo-ritual, and so they must serve their master as mindless zombies... If there's a Hammer movie that showcases the studios unique clash of Horror and quaint Englishness it's this one. Voodoo rituals and Haitian zombies meet the Cornish tin mining industry and well spoken doctors. |
Another classic that I can't wait to see in HD |
Now this is one of my favourite Hammers. It simply oozes atmosphere and the zombies are actually quite frightening! The scene with the zombies rising from their graves makes me wonder if this wasn't the inspiration for similar scenes in the Blind Dead movies. I also can't wait for this to hit BD! |
I think over the years this has become my favourite Hammer film. The scene where they wait for the Doctor's wife to rise is one of my favourites of all time. Oh, and it has Michael Ripper as a good old fashioned copper too. What more could you want? |

Cant wait to see this in HD |
Easily one of my favourite british horror films, cant wait to see those riding jackets etc..... |
This is due to arrive tommorow. Actualy, considering it's half term I may have a double bill. Any suggestions on what I should watch it with? |
The Reptile springs to mind... |
I pre-ordered the BD of The Reptile just the other day. Guess I'll hold off the double bill until that arrives then. |
Well made film with good atmosphere but i don't want my zombies to be enslaved by man in a ****ing kulmine. I want them feasting on their flesh! |
The Zombies in this film are more in keeping with the poverty row voodoo undead of a 30s Bela Lugosi movie rather the gut munchers of later movies. |
A fantastic film that's not only one of Hammer's golden moments but easily one of the best British zombie films. Fantastic stuff  |
Yep a Hammer classic. The zombies are fantastic creations. |

Watched this for the umpteenth time last night, still one of my favourite zombie films |
If one of those zombies confronted me i would beat him with a stick and put him to work in my kitchen. |

LOOKING GOOD! Can't wait for the next two BD releases. Roll on some FRANKENSTEIN from Studio Canal! |
I need that Plague disc! There's a huge gaping hole where my AB DVD was that needs to be filled. I think I'm more eagerly awaiting this than DPOD. |
Good review at AV Forums. Gives the PQ a 7 but his main gripe seems to be that the day for night scenes weren't redone, which is moot as they're untouched. The Plague of the Zombies Blu-ray Review | AVForums.com - UK Online Not long now! :D |
This is one of my favourite Hammer films I recently sat down to watch it with someone, who was very angry because it didn't feature 'real zombies' - i.e they were not cannibalistic George Romero - you have a lot to answer for! |
Yes,roll on plague of the zombies and the reptile. Question for you lot? Has anyone seen the swallowed souls doc on the making of evil dead 2? I don't own a multi region bluray player but this doc I would love to see. Hope I have this in the appropriate thread/post,if not would someone tell me how do I post a question or query for you people and what thread or post should I submit it to. regards Demonknight |
The zombies in Plague are pussys. I bet they are friends with Chuck Norris who is also a pussy. I would take'em down one by one  |
I'll bet the Expendables are shitting themselves.....;) |
I think the zombies in Plague are brilliant :) |
Going to see this at the cinema on Tuesday! Excited! |
