Oh I never saw this thread the first time around!

'77, the year of my birth so I could say that I'm my own favourite horror movie of '77

However, it's a REALLY tough call between;

Eraserhead
Hausu
Martin
Suspiria

I haven't seen The Possessed, but it sounds quite interesting, even for a made-for-TV movie.

I like it, as a fun piece of cheesy 70's animal horror with William Shatner you can't go wrong, my personal favourite of the animal horror films of the decade.

For me Fulci's The Psychic wins by a clear mile, now there is a title I would love Arrow do a Blu of rather than a new one of a Argento release.

It's an absolute hoot, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it! :)

Indeed, can't get any better than seeing Shatner applying his quirky acting skills to being covered and fighting off killer spiders.

I'm going with the TV movie COUNT DRACULA.
Still the best screen adaptation of the bloodsucker!

That's been one of my favourites since the early 90's, shame there isn't a decent DVD of it

I rented it from Lovefilm years ago and didn't think much to the picture quality, as far as I know it's the only one available.

I'd definitely recommend it (the adaptation, not the DVD) after Christopher Lee, Louis Jourdan is my favourite Count

Edit: it's worth a fiver

You really need to see this one Dem.

I am happy with the BBC DVD. I watched this on it's first transmission in December 1977 and every showing after.
The version here is the film split into two parts. This is how one of the transmissions appeared as it was split over two nights. The BBC were running over time on the first episode and so the ending of that episode seems abrupt as there are no credits but that's how it was and nothing is missing. If you let the DVD play it runs into episode two anyway. The movie was shown only once as a full version on BBC2.

A quick photo of my sleeve signed by Susan Penhaligon.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 16th January 2020 03:18 PM

Yeah it was good.....a sort of wisecracking count with his tongue firmly in his cheek.

Gothmogxx 20th January 2020 01:11 AM

Suspiria. The most beautiful looking film I've ever seen. Full of suspense and a fantastic score. Masterpiece.
