The differences between the UK cinema cut (on the BFI DVD) and the 2004 reconstruction are
infinitely less than the far more pronounced differences between the UK and US cinema cuts. Or indeed between the 2004 version and what was shown to the BBFC and Warner execs in early 1971.
I think part of the problem is that people have seized on words like "restoration" and "director's cut" and have assumed that the 2004 version is much more definitive than it actually is. But "slightly extended cut" would be a more accurate description.
