TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE: Superior 70s crime film with a unbelievably cold turn from the awesome Robert Shaw. Really tense, gritty and suspenseful with some brilliant moments of dark humour thrown in. Great 70s score by David Shire. Remade with John Travolta and Denzel Washington that unfortunately lost all of the fun of the original. Highly recommended.
DEVIL'S DEN: This is a sort of copy of From Dusk Till Dawn with a strip club full of monsters. It's great fun but tries too hard to be a Tarantino clone with it's lengthy Zatoichi story. Devon Sawa from Idle Hands is in it along with the gorgeous Kelly Hu and the Ken Foree as the hunter. Not bad and has some nice gore FX. |
